The Unlit Road

Let explorers go where they will, l have discovered my paradise in thee, New worlds do not me, with interest fill For you have set my roaming spirit free, Of distant lands I dream no longer, And I cannot think of elsewhere being, As my passion grows, the bonds get stronger, your presence blesses me with seeing. You light up the road, I now must follow, Before you were there, the road was dim, But anywhere, without you, would be Hollow And parting, be it but an hour, is merely an interim.

Thank you for reading 'The Unlit Road'. Several people have felt that the subject of the poem was God. I am not averse to that interpretation. But it is actually a love poem to a specific person, in the style of John Donne, who has been a great influence in my work. Damian.
