You've been a good material,
Though look not magisterial;
Should be above betrayal,
Among men fine portrayal;
For reasons of survival:
Christian Hour Revival...
The big snakes you shall trample
And them display as sample;
Talks about Tree of a god
And dropping at its base cod,
Exchange of cock's life for man's
The shamefullest of help plans.

My hair fills the circumference of itself
And takes up space with little help
It goes the only way it knows
In tightly bound cornrows
In church the preacher talks about my hair
To entertain everyone there
Saying 'comb out your unchristian naps!'
Someone says 'Amen' and claps
I cannot change the cross-heavy volume
But no one hears over the organ's tune
I turn the locks into a twist
Can't wear my church hat with hair like this
My hair fills the circumference of my life
Till there is space for nothing else about me.

I was surprised to find this poem on Bing.
It had a very familiar ring
I wrote it 15 years ago!!!
No credit is given to the schmoe
who "borrowed" it without consent.
That's what I most resent.
That and that awful color scheme
More of a nightmare than a dream
Purple font on blackened sky ~
It's not at all pleasing to the eye.
I claim my poem as one of prose
and get over the theft, I suppose.
*************
at Jan's request I'm posting the original poem
We searched for each other
in the most unlikely places
among the most unlikely people
and when our paths finally crossed
it was for reasons so entangled
that we might not even have noticed
except for that faint quiver of wonder
like a passing chill from the night air
we loved
and the closest we've come to explaining why
is because it was you
and because it was I
*NOTE: There are two lines inserted in the center that are NOT mine
"in our daily bread - and the usual trespasses"
So they steal a poem and then add words of a religious nature. How very unChristian of them.

Found this in an unfinished file from 2008
In each life come significant transitional events
That shape or alter our lives forever.
At times when we least expect it
We come face up with those
Destined to share our path;
At first we may think little of it,
But quickly we realize that their presence
Is no accident, but by Divine appointment.
I came near to rejecting this young lady
God had sent to me because of an
Unchristian like attitude I had at the moment;
But God, being all knowing,
Knew that I wouldn’t refuse her,
Lest He wouldn’t have brought her there;
Immediately, she became to me, my burden,
And often a disappointment,
For, to me, she was worthy of far more,
Than I thought life was giving her.
She now is such a joy and great friend
Who without knowing it has reached out
And touched our hearts;

You say you hate the Democratic way
They say with another Bush we won’t make it another day
You say but you’d rather have an unchristian Muslim in his place
They say you spread false rumors in lies are upon your face
At a fresh 18 years, I realized this is a civil war based of conflicting fears
Republicans say screw unemployment and welfare, we work hard and so should they for
their share
Democrats say liberal change is what we need; don’t take hand in republican greed
I said cant we all just sit down and talk this over in a civilized fashion
Both sides said this is the war of politics and there is no compassion
they said pick a side you’re a man now, then pitched their plans and started promoting
I said f—ck the both of you I’m not v0ting.
