Dragging days to their awful end
is a life suited for the wretched;
when those unavoidable regrets
come into play, we drop all wits!

Unavoidable Mortal Sojourn
David J Walker
We come from a place of
Faded imaginations
Drifting in waves
In past shades of
A different sunlit afternoon
That bakes bronzed skin in
Tones of a next thanksgiving
We bow our heads in prayer and
Sinful humiliation
Expecting a regeneration
Of our own recondite youth
An embattled ineffable truth of
An unavoidable mortal sojourn

Old age
Most of the time
Like watching a balloon flying away Knocking into a spider web
Wearing wrong shoes or different shoes
Locked on bed feeling fatigue
Being left in pitch darkness
Helpless
Memories run loose
Sadness and happiness
All jumble up and slowly fading away
Like water dripping
Through the fingers
Unpreventable
Retreating from public
The world becomes smaller and smaller
Feeling closer with the family Loneliness
One day suddenly facing a path
Leading to the unknown and infinity
Hesitate to wander
Fear to wander
But keep seeking
Hoping to find God
This very moment
Maybe the first time in life
A miracle

Life is tough; pain is a part of it;
but so too is love; balance is met.
Yet the scale tips, according to how
you measure the weight of each tear wept.
Submissive to your reality;
you suffer needlessly every night.
For fear is but a phantom shadow;
once exposed, it quickly fades from sight.
Hope realigns confused, scattered thoughts;
defeating doubt so trust can survive.
And imbues your heart with its magic;
keeping daydreams secretly alive.
Sadness suffered in the name of love;
infiltrates places the heart protects.
And a world of sensations awaits;
with unavoidable side effects.
Numbing the pain of a broken heart;
time erases feelings of regret.
And allows trust to rejuvenate;
till a solo becomes a duet.

Death,
Looks like a towering obstacle reaching to all horizons,
Smells like your favorite perfume,
Sounds like music and loved ones voices,
It feels like you are coming home for good.

Time quickly passes by, yet no one sees,
The irksome truth that affects us all.
Lingering like the smell of old garbage,
That in due time we will all separate.
It is inevitable, for no one,
Will maintain the friendships that we now have.
This time next year we shall all, have moved on.
