Today I contemplate those perfect soft mounds of flesh
the pillows upon my chest

For one has sent me on a quest
a lump you see that has paused my rest

We did the 3d mammogram
followed immediately by an ultrasound

And now its biopsy day tomorrow
and my matched set will be scarred I fear

The progression of this process has been slow
quite the test

messed up appointments
and a road closure due to fire no less

And it's taken 2 months to get here
and so the moment of truth is near

What exactly does it mean?
Will it be removed

Stay tuned - Artimus 10/8/2023 (C) Susan Manley

Actually it's intense chemo for me, followed by surgery, and later radiation you see. My future includes loss of all hair, and a lot of not fun.

Fritez's Woman Friend

her bands wast softly singing a rhymn
it's the one folks said play it one more time
when we kissed I smelled her fragance
I thought I heard trumpets in the distance
we danced to an Ole lovers tune
we acted like we were on our honeymoon
when the music stopped
people applauded
we just bowed and curteied
know one would ever thought it
would be the day we'd start dating
inbetween the lectures and debating
we had some wonderful times together
her acting coy and me acting clever

I hummed the tune and she started singing
took the words right out of my mouth
I kissed her to be quiet
guess you know what that one's about
she is one incredible dancer
I love when she cha'cha too
when she leans in to tell me
That she loves me too

A Crooners Song

Seasoned and primed for performance.
It draws attraction to feed it's need to
be seen. How different one might
 compare. Each difference than
 spoken as favored
from such comparison. It's
 maintenance and upkeep creates
a jargon for those who wish to follow
and participate. It's dues are allocated
from the works of it's possessor. Those
who have been allowed to be great
 from mere ownership.Yond beyond
 the edge; the gravels create the road;
it squarks and squeaks from it's lack of
attention, but breezes to carry the load!
Each of one's five fingers wrapped around
the baton to conduct the Muses of people.
Simple for the trained and difficult for the
untrained to fathom. Yet all in attendance
marvel at the spectacle. To applaud

Tuned Mellifluous

Knumbed by her beauty
I stood in the fast beleif
she'd refuse my suggestion
of suppering in evening
she stood proud and
 assured that I would
beg her whilst her friends
 observed to sneer and smerk
I stood unattractive to either
but her gentle kindness
allowed me her person

when evening speaks
to the dawn
might the entanglements of
lovers speak to the night

might the crooning of songsters
croon
to make atmosphere for evening
her trusting me allowed me
to be me
unassured and stumbling
then welcomed by her kisses
our feats en lovemaking she
holds me
and makes me
her person
she makes me her lover
might the evening
speak to dawn
none shall know of our
nights together.
Admiration by morning
Inamorate from the night
than she spoke me
to be
to marry
to
marry.

We flew to Hawaii
I met her their
we shared a marvolos time
when we returned home
we married
a preachers stammering
tougne
spoke usas husband and wife.

I flex my tired joints to keep them in tune.
Although my ancient body no longer croons.
My ancient fingers tap computer keys.
They no longer dance with greatest of ease.
The stories I create on the blank screen,
make me a character upon the scene.
My body is old, I feel I'm not living,
but with my writing I can keep giving.
My words are like music to the soul,
making the reader's broken life feel whole.
My writing helps me waltz through the day,
and makes bad feelings simply drift away.
In the real world I puff like an old car,
in the world I create I am the star.

in a black bubble of seclusion
sitting silent
the moon hangs low
in the stillness of the night
so clearly
so distinct
the memory of you
it calls to me
a whisper
on wings of butterflies
a shiver tingling
way deep inside
sweet charming
haunting beckoning

Tuned to rhapsody
My heart grows wings, flies
Charmed to your rainbow arched sky
I’m lone bird to sing
Lure your shiny crystal mind
With doting care you hold me
We dance timeless dance sublime
Music of love never stops.

Tuned Ebony Shades of Ecstasy

Here we are—
black as the night;
sable souls singing songs
of Nubian love—slow dancing
on opaque rhythmic nimbus clouds.

Unshackled melodies of generations
flow from charcoal tributaries
slowly undulating—streaming
between ebony sheen banks.

Estuaries of ecstasy splash joyously
into the wetness
of the dark hued sea of our love.

Tuned and harmonized
in the abyss of relief,
fading moans moor themselves:
waiting the coming of the next tide.

A Fine-Tuned Machine

Calling all tuners!
It’s time to convene
To evaluate Trump and
His “fine-tuned machine.”

That’s the claim that he’s making
But most seem to feel
His machine might be missing
A cog or a wheel…

Or a lot more than that.
It just makes the blood boil
And to fix things, dear tuners,
You’ll need more than oil.

So get started right now
And if we are in luck,
This machine can be salvaged
Before we’re all…..stuck!

Not Tuned In

Aye, let me say
It's not what ya think bout me,
For I'll always be that, just me!

Holler if ya want to,
I'm not listening,
For I'm not tuned in!

Turn up the volume all ya want to,
I still don't feel the lousy heat,
I'm over you, over that too!

Want to tell me a story
All about me?
I know me well and I do ME well.

What else to add to your false alarm,
Like a clock going off
When it's not supposed to?

What do you gain from your strife?
Does it make you into a hero,
Locked in like a club sandwich?

How large is your bite
Shedding dirt like a mite,
Pieces flying all over - air, land and sea?

You got that right, It's not what ya say
And it's not what ya do;
Hurting is the name of your Game!

What do you listen first?
Your spirit or your reason?
Remember - always your spirit
Your spirit is where God is talking to you
You can learn guidance, where you need to go through your spirit
It could say "go there", "do not go there"
Until you are in tune with your spirit
It's hard to hear God
Because sometimes He does not talk in a normal voice
We are accustomed to hear Him in a small, still voice
But have you ever heard Him through your spirit?
God communicates with us through all kinds of ways
And that is one of the ways
Be in tune
And be in one of His ways
Darn it - I wish I can hear Him more
Of course you can
If only you are listening
Set it my friend
And tuning in
