Let me be the one!
One glance at your face
Initiated the chase
I have therefore, joined the race
To determine whose arms, you finally embrace
Of gold I heard your heart is made
To provide for a weary heart like mine, a shade
For a love like yours, I've always prayed
And hope no other, would have you swayed
Seen beauties without measure,
Yet, none gives my eyes more pleasure,
Unequalled, in beauty and grace,
The emptiness in my heart, please displace
I am hooked, as I never have been,
To a beauty, who ought to be a queen,
With abundance of brains and elegance
And no quantum of arrogance.
So, bury my heart in your bosom,
And let our love blossom,
Display me to all, like a work of art
But, never be thrown at with a dart
Let your lips be mine alone,
Worthy you will be for my throne.
Let me live in a love that’s fair and true,
Not one that'll always leave me blue.
Let me make you my Tsarina,
And you make me your Tsar.
Let me be your one true boo,
Not some display animal in your zoo.

Once was a gal by the name of Katrina
She acted superior like a Russian tsarina
Her nose in the air
Walked with a flare
Till one day she got served with a subpoena
(HUH!)

These are very bad times for our nation.
We are in a very dire situation.
Our tsar is not in his palace anymore,
since our country is embroiled in a war.
The tsar is supervising the front line armament.
In St. Petersburg, a mad man is heading our government.
The tsarina is very difficult to convince
since Rasputin has hypnotic power over the prince.
We must come to the aid of Mother Russia.
Let’s murder that little monkey from Siberia.

Although I was born and raised among German aristocracy,
I feel I have blended rather well with Russian nobility.
My name changed when I converted to Russian Orthodoxy.
I am now called Catherine. I was once known as Sophie.
Despite my mother being banished from the country,
Tsarina Elizabeth looks quite favorably upon me.
However, one major item exists where I must disagree.
Duke Peter of Holstein-Gottorp is matched up with me.
Since his aunt Tsarina Elizabeth called him to court,
he has been consistent with each unwitting retort.
This buffoon has alienated many as we have few friends.
Unfortunately, he will become tsar when Elizabeth’s life ends.
He is obnoxious, overbearing, and possesses the dullest mind.
Peter can only become a tsar of the worst kind.
Besides, he is ugly with all those scars from smallpox.
He has them on his face, arms, legs, and even his buttocks.
Peter is supposed to be the sovereign of the Russians.
However, he surrounds himself with Holsteins and Prussians.
I should dispose of this menace. There has to be a way.
I must rule Russia alone as a tsarina one day.
Catherine II (aka Catherine the Great) ruled Russia from 1762 to 1796.

Ah, how the icy night is silent!
Tsarina of dreams rushes somewhere.
Already for a long time,
a new poem knocks at me.
It must be born in my soul,
and it already commands, «Start writing me!»
But sleeping people do not know.
It is not interesting to them, generally,
that a flower, like a new song,
tomorrow will blossom in the snow.
Tsarina of dreams flies from the golden-haired groom.
In excitement, I await my new poem,
like May, love, a birth of a child.
