Sound Bites: May, 2024

Out from under
the burden of proof
Changing the argument
— freeing the truth

…..

Saying it shorter
staying intact
Words more empowered
— tightening the slack

…..

Writing … the cake
Reading … the icing
Licking the spoon
 — crumbs of delight

…..

Leaders made
not born
when so inclined

To rise
or fall
— with choice defined

…..

Freedom and consciousness
answers implied
Unknown to the masses
whose questions have died

Freedom and consciousness
 trysting aware
Betrothing each other
— to wed in what’s shared

A Familial Condition

Disgruntled, they come to me as bit-parts
ripped from black and white movies.
Mad aunt Anastasia, who should have been a nun,
one of her hands would refrain from touching her,
the other has been long carried off
by wolfish priests.
The Holy Ghost has pickled her in a jar,
she now floats between worlds.

Uncle Sean, the iniquitous Maître D'
looming above a meaty cleavage,
he who flambéed Steak Diane
with a slyly sapid leer,
poured cognac,
then after the salacious hunt,
triumphantly decanted his thirsty+ lusts
into any grateful woman
whomever.

Cousin Tommy died early,
but not before he had burnt through
the Old Testament.
A brimstone disorder gnawed his innards,
left him lacking normal human kapok,
kept him bubbling until a self-inflicted wound,
blew out his brains.

There are cousins removed and living,
who disassemble themselves, with zealotry,
or ennui. None took the middle way,
none quietly settled-in
to live a life of unremarkable normality,
trysting the nights away
with damp-stained regrets.

Like larks’ tongues, they sing in the invisible.
They reside in the far reaches,
until dark angels flame out
in their berserker eyes.

Meeting At Dusk

I told my love that we should meet
He asked me when and where
I said “At dusk, of course, my sweet.
Let’s meet up then and there.”

Yet of my love I see no trace
For the dusk is wide and vast
As I wait here in our trysting place
Alone in twilight fading fast.

Clouds Conceal the Pallid Moon

Draw back the drapes of those tenebrous clouds
for my eyes desire a glimmer of the pallid moon.
Sullen shadows of night, her beauty enshrouds.
Covering her faint glow is a sin, I dare impugn.

Lustrous is her light when emerged in the night,
as pale as the alabaster skin of my love's cheek.
A pearl in the sky. Passion's flame she will ignite,
reflected across waters in an aura of mystique.

Without the moon, my soul would mourn, bereft.
Her splendor worthy of lyrics written in musical bars.
I would write a sonnet for her if my hand was deft.
Even though her hue is wan, she outshines stars.

I'll not weep for the moon while her light wanes.
I'm aware that it's just a phase, and soon will pass.
Then, comes the time when her luminance reigns
and billowed nimbus will turn aside for her. Alas!

If overcast shadows choose to darken the skies
let them do so to offer shade from the sun's heat,
but never allow them to conceal from my eyes
the trysting place where the pale moon and I meet.

Premium MemberBest At Room Temp

My dear, a Romeo I fear I'm not
When the temperature is too darned hot.
I prefer to do my wooing,
And my billing and my cooing,
In a thermostatically well-regulated spot.

So the choice of where to rendezvous
Presents a slew of problems, too.
I don't mind trysting with a lady
In a nook that's nice and shady,
But on a beach in mid-July just will not do.

On a cloudy day I may essay a walk about,
But the stroll will likely be cut short, no doubt,
For I must quickly duck back in
If the sun comes out again,
Else I'm perspiring back to front and inside out.

So, when next romantically inclined you get,
And ere another beau you find, my pet,
Just keep the room temp, if you please,
At a steady sixty-eight degrees,
And I'll Romeo your socks off, Juliette.

Take My Hand

Walk me on a lovers' lane
Where intrusion never reigns
A bower of bliss
Away from the city noise.

In trysting place
I never would mind a fall
For whether in love I fall
Or from the pinnacle of a craggy mount
In your quick and sweet embrace
Will I rise in hope and trust

Take my hand and let's go
A pleasant sunshine upon us has risen
A season to hold our lips
In firm embrace
And our hearts in steadfast hug.

Cricket Evening
Twilight falls and chirps call,
Sounds delight in moonlight,
Tree frogs burp and conjure up,
Sweet dreams like ice creams,
Warmly listening, ears are trysting,
Autumn slumber gearshifts summer,
Jiminy Cricket greets nature's thicket!

Venus Before Roses

Shine all night
Shine Venus
Venus in orbit
Venus a goddess
Goddess to Caesar
Goddess of beauty
Beauty a treasure
Beauty attracts
Attracts roaming eyes
Attracts a young man
Man asks for date
Man slyly glancing
Glancing down cleavage
Glancing at legs
Legs slim and shapely
Legs gracing skirt
Skirt a temptation
Skirt not a toga
Toga clad Romans
Toga shed trysting
Trysting in Forum
Trysting for Cupid
Cupid of Venus
Cupid spews arrows
Arrows pierce hearts
Arrows bind couple
Couple falls petting
Couple soft whispers
Whispers all night
Whispers of love
Love on the sofa
Love shining bright
Bright as old Venus
Bright smiling bride
Bride marches aisle
Bride dressed in white
White frilly undies
White linen bed
Bed for two wed
Bed hosting love
Love all their lives
Love a great gift
Gift Venus granted
Gift for a Valentine
Valentine candy
Valentine roses
Roses mean love
Roses so splendid
Splendid …
Love …

IN THE TANGLED WEB OF TIME…

How long
must we still march
and sing---
our feet grown weary
and facades of justice
quietly silencing our voices?

Today
we remain footnotes
to his story---
our story
a cocooned legacy
of a pregnant dream
hanging
in the tangled web of time.

Matrices
of pseudo gains
continue
to tease un-ripened minds
with scams of liberty.

Today
in due time
in due season
we will rise up
from the pit we’re in---
rise up
and catch the fallen dream
laying it in the warm nest
of the bosom of liberation---
and incubate the waiting vision
of our destined realities
singing songs of redemption---
ringing bells of freedom
dancing to the beat of liberty:

Indeed
the flame of determination
burns eternally
and the love-journey
of the unshackled
continues toward the trysting place.

Waiting For You

The daylight is dying
Twilight comes flying
Purple and crimson blaze in the sky;
The sun's in a rush
To part with a flush
And kiss the meadow good bye.

An hour for trysting
When you come unresisting
Precious and eager on hesitant feet;
Shadows disguise us
Rose scent to baptize us
Scenting our bed with odours so sweet.

We can't know the reason
Or the span of a season
But eternal the stars shine up above;
We never had sought it
We never had thought it
Were it not jeweled with the beauty of love.

But all is forgiven
By chance that has given
An hour for the transition of youth;
We never will know it
But our dream will now show it
Changing it all to astonishing truth.

The fireflies ignite you
My breath will delight you
Nothing will vex the passing of hours;
Come, I await you
Night is too late for you
Come while the dewdrops are kissing the flowers.

The wind of the night is
Fragrant with lilies
Touched by a moonbeam, kissed by the dew;
The garden lies breathless
Where love awaits deathless
Under the starlight, I'm waiting for you.

O, My, My

One gnashing of teeth
makes a star fall billions of miles away
A tiny turn in a flower makes angels turn

The flutter of a strange butterfly
Is in my mouth my heart my hands my feet
As the universe
In and around me cry

Large raindrops fall
Busy making the circuit
from Precambrian days
Puddle to pool to river to sea
The humming beauty bivouacing inside me -
Sea to ocean to snorkelling whales,
fun, vapour, cloud and sky
Trysting with the cosmic fall
O, my, my !

Charged and seeded, full of child
Weeping, heavy with labour, wild
fat and veined, in ecstasy
blue belly filled
with water, corn, life, dreams distilled
From tubs of tangerine
In earnestness and sin

The angel and the butterfly
Over my head this evening flew
Lifting up the crimson sky
O, my, my !

Scrolls To Venus

December susurrations mingle
in this lissome isthmus

and our wispy Vespers,
these suspired planets

gossip along misty vistas
of silvery insinuations
and hushed hints.

The fractured lisps
of elusive revelations
curl in the breeze,

a gypsy veil

between shivering lips
in the cusp
of our trysting breaths.

Ascending daystars converse
in this lexis of secrets
and draw us a scroll to Venus
with each breathless ellipsis
between whispers.

In the crepuscular half-light

Are transformed to apodictic
Iridescent lyrical love
Tokens of rhapsodic tranquil

Tragedy of Love

Did you feel the trust?

Oh, effervescent lusting

Cracking your core

As the trysting truffles of love

Unfolded?

Cranking at your heart

That came into you, to start

And the piece that you felt

Was it always so irrational?

Misunderstood, by change of good

The nature of what you had

Fell apart.

So you dig it away

And listen to what friends say

For they seem to have your best interest

At heart.

Where did it go? Why did it leave?

And why does it come to stay

After you ask it to recede?

Perhaps, you can’t let go.

So, it re seeded because you

Can’t let go.

Those mongrels in black

Attacking because they lack

That truth that you share

That love and despair.

The shared residence of shacking

Creative love while others were forsaking,

That love that they once felt.

So they push it on you

Creating your mind into a zoo

Of questions of seriousness

And the plunge of a gregarious nature.

An intertwined fate

To be classic

Love and Hate

But passion so deep

It made you loose sleep

So much you perhaps fell

Back into his arms again.
