Waiting For You

The daylight is dying
Twilight comes flying
Purple and crimson blaze in the sky;
The sun's in a rush
To part with a flush
And kiss the meadow good bye.

An hour for trysting
When you come unresisting
Precious and eager on hesitant feet;
Shadows disguise us
Rose scent to baptize us
Scenting our bed with odours so sweet.

We can't know the reason
Or the span of a season
But eternal the stars shine up above;
We never had sought it
We never had thought it
Were it not jeweled with the beauty of love.

But all is forgiven
By chance that has given
An hour for the transition of youth;
We never will know it
But our dream will now show it
Changing it all to astonishing truth.

The fireflies ignite you
My breath will delight you
Nothing will vex the passing of hours;
Come, I await you
Night is too late for you
Come while the dewdrops are kissing the flowers.

The wind of the night is
Fragrant with lilies
Touched by a moonbeam, kissed by the dew;
The garden lies breathless
Where love awaits deathless
Under the starlight, I'm waiting for you.

I think it's all already been said... but, here goes. Scintillating! The cadence is designed to lull one to sleep, and your rhyming is absolute perfection! I am in awe... :))

somehow you have incorporated matter of factness with expectancy and excitement at the prospect in the midst of nature's imagery. Very very interesting and unique Elizabeth !

Hello my dear friend, this is the perfect poem for me to say thank you for keeping in touch while I've been doing battle with "the dark side." Return home was delayed and I've been focusing on music lately but so glad to hear from you and read this AMAZING piece of pure beauty coming from a true-blue poetry queen. Thanks for everything.

Precious and eager on hesitant feet. May we all find a way to find love someday. Where we'll jump in with both of our feet. And know that it's love that came from above. When eachother, we finally meet.

Another perfect expression, Liz. This piece would be wonderful set to music, but the music would have to be equal to the piece, and that would be so difficult. Love, daver

Oh my! This is fabulous, Elizabeth. So romantic and worded with creative imagery. You should enter it in the "erotic" contest. This is as much as I want to hear about a love relationship. Very tasteful and dreamy. Love, Carolyn
