Traction Poems

US Sports Report

When playing basketball
being tall is best it's thought
but that's not all
wearing saggy baggy shorts on the court
needs keen hand-eye coordination
plus being fleet of foot
and have no quibble with dunk or dribble
if through the hoop a Wilson you wish to put.
As for American football
boring from the sideline I find
it's more talk less action
namby-pamby as opposed to rugby
which is wilder less calmer
and without all the body armour
now there's a game with some traction.
America's pastime baseball
is another matter
whether pitcher or batter
with Rawlings or Slugger
when on the mound I have found
unlike soccer or rugger
before a ball the hurler throws
and the pitch is hit or caught with a mitt
first rearrange the private parts in public
twitch the cap and then spit.

Now I have been forced into this position,
I hate having to change my plan of action.
Left to start this ball rolling to gain traction.

This demeanor so commonly full of poise,
I detest the use of superfluous noise.
The rest of my arsenal surely deploys.

My reflection slowly begins splintering
as indignant skin succumbs to blistering.
What I’m repeating is not registering.

Yanking at my emotions only to see
when to pull hard or proceed delicately.
I’m starting to feel you are here to test me.

Your image once clicked initiates rage bait
to rush out of control I can’t moderate.
I wish I had walked away, now it’s too late.

When I’m driving or the lights go out
keeping pace with the dark I overthink;
Second winds of second guessing mount;

I can’t get my mind and calm to sync
so the two can exist in tandem;
Any rejuvenation’s squashed in a blink;

Make shift thoughts collide at random
detonating quiet with a chain reaction;
Here then gone I can’t control them;

Breathing in I move forward a fraction,
slowly but surely I start to gain traction.

There she lies, all bruised and bleeding.
She always gets up.
There's no conceding.
She'll never comprehend the reason.
Was it too easy because she was seasoned?
Another's strong emotional reaction kicked her to the curb.
Now she's in traction.
A broken system in the dust.
Whom can one truly trust?
Regardless how cloudy some days seem to be,
the sun will break thru eventually.

Where have all the novels gone
  Name three good ones written
    in the last thirty years...

  Seems they're on the back burners
    in their place, 'page-turners'

Premium MemberSpring Farm At-Traction

Once in a garden I saw,
Just by an old workshed door
Bulbs in a pot,
that looked really hot
On a spring bought at auction for sure

The promise of growth in repose
Perhaps daffodils soon would make shows?
Though winter's been dreary
Soon new growth would cheer me
From tractor spring; sprung support all a r'ose.'

Premium MemberDesires Gain Traction

Desires gain traction, as we choose
Dream crystallisation
There then thus being no excuse
For fate lamentation

Be still lama, choose joy
Devoid of ego ploy
Reclaim bliss; be not coy

Law of attraction
Desires gain traction

Those horrible things you said
Daggers in flesh
That is already dead
They serve to remind me
That your pain
Is greater than mine.
