Tethered to a sandman’s chair
Oblivious and yet aware
Who would think or know
Abstraction would be a show
Of endearing love and such care
Nonetheless fingers crossed in air
Cuffed and bound no escape
A tethered rope invisible stake
Yet here I sit and simply stay
Sandman’s victim on this day
Seeking freedom from this curse
Laiden bare within a hearse
Run my soul and free yourself
Brass cross entangled on the shelf
Feathers from high talk to me
Angels whispers to set me free
Run run my freed soul
Whispers peak to make me whole

Bound by the curse arise from inception,
Tethered was my fate, with this ruthless salvation_
Despair got this hand through the reality' shade;
Despite being apoplectic your glint never fades..
Redirected were your sights, only on this influence
While the rumbling glares got healed through your calm incandescence_
"Hey god", if you can feel the sanity of my heart!
Then confront this query of mine, why keep us apart?
A voice filled with allurance, ringed through them,
Out of his sympathy, his words commenced_
Distanced by your fate,will reunite through love;
On that eccentric night your souls will descend
Let life be witness, when hands annex above.
The thread with you bound by will come to an end..
Along with the compromises, the pact had been made
They both did agree with what the god said,
Point off the window the child interrogates-
Mom, can you tell me why the moonlight fades?
Mother answered,"That's what we call a lunar Eclipse!",
In which those two bodies meet defying the nemesis.

I’m tethered to work
And weathered by chores’
And follow a measured
Run-of-the-mill course.
I’m tethered, not feathered
And no longer fly,
I’ve ignored my wings
And do not know why.
Flying was certain
When flying was free;
When trying and flying
Were the best part of me.
I flew through the world
Or was it a dream,
Feathered and untethered
Was life what it seemed?
Or was it quite the same
Though a bit less fettered,
Was the trying, flying
Just tools to get better?
Yet maybe the knowing
Strengthens our wings,
So untether forever
To let your heart sing!

The deaf dog repeatedly barked,
loud, timely, bellowing, sharp..
Tethered tight in his back yard,
his family slept as he kept guard..
Day after day on an eight foot leash,
he pulled at his chain as far as it reached..
He was not aggressive.
He had never bit.
This was life as he knew it.
His children hadn't played with him
since he was quite small.
No one ever walked him nor
even played ball.
His daily testimonial mark was a
persistent, resonating, boisterous bark.

We tethered our hearts to the stars,
And we dreamed of a world that was free.
We dreamed of a world without war,
Without poverty, and without pain.
We dreamed of a world where everyone was equal,
Where everyone had enough to eat,
And where everyone had a place to call home.
We dreamed of a world where love was the law,
And where peace was the only way.
We dreamed of a world that was better than this,
And we knew that we could make it happen.
So we tethered our hearts to the stars,
And we set out to make our dreams a reality.
We fought for what we believed in,
We never gave up hope,
And we never stopped dreaming.
And today, we are closer than ever to achieving our dreams.
We have come a long way,
But we still have a long way to go.
But we will never give up,
We will never stop fighting,
And we will never stop dreaming.
Because we know that together,
Anything is possible.

In my heart, there's a place for hope;
for it gives me the strength to cope.
I keep it nestled next to love,
gifted to me by God above.
Like faith, they're tethered to my soul,
and together, they make me whole.

You lift me gently out of my cage
Into the palm of your hand
You smooth my feathers with such tenderness.
Up into the air, You raise your arms
In a swift motion, you release me to fly
I believed I was free
If only for a brief time.
Up into the sky
Until
My foot is tethered to what is behind
I am being pulled
Back to earth
I descend
Lower and lower
Back into my cage.

Short shadows stretched by a sinking sun,
darkness denotes the day is done.
And Sol slips over the edge of the Earth
tethered to oblivion,
and yet, shackled to Dawn.
Twilight morphs into Dusk, summoning night,
as a canopy of twinkling stars shine.
And the moon imbues a phantom sun's light
with magic, where wishes and dreams entwine.
an ebony sea
a constellation of stars...
candles set adrift

Constricting thought, killing love.
Freedom paralysed.

Tethered To the Llano Estacado
David J Walker
The red thicked dust
Replaced the air we breathed
With floating rust
In shrouds bequeathed in
The Earth’s crust
Flying by
Higher than the clouds
Blocking out the sun
It is the price you will pay
If you are going to stay
Tethered to the
Llano Estacado

A juicy nectarine
sparkles through the dove-colored limbs
of the fully flushed trees
as the light seeps
around the edge of the cool morn’,
yesterday.
Today the dayspring's lemon-cream
rubs the irradiating Summer sky,
it is of a squeezed lemon.

Here I am walking barefooted
beside the silvery sea~
The setting sun left a pastel pink hue
on silent summer sky,
filling my empty heart with warm aglow
as twilight birds begin to sing
our old favourite song.
I was here some years ago~
But not alone…
The laughters still echo
in the rushing white waves,
in the warm wind whispering
softly caressing my hair;
His deep eyes still painted in the clouds
that descend gently to kiss me;
The traces of our footprints adorning the satin sand
still vivid in my eyes like yesterday.
I sigh as the tepid water touches my frigid feet
Yes, I can only sigh~
For when will my love return
I’ll keep on waiting
Till the sun fades away,
Till the moon forgets the evening sky;
For this moment of waiting~ I know
will never, never be in vain.

Tethered to a Moment
A-ha flickers in the momentum of birthing inspiration
New love or grief or tantrums of the soul tether the nascent moment,
Tied onto remembrance in the thrust of a second split,
Swaddled in swooping formal obsidian curves -
Punctuated by specks dotting exhales –
In ebony lines of crushed lamp black –
Define a whisper in contours captured
In structured pools of graphite toner
Bending eloquent articulation into elegance
And blinding revelations secured to real time
By boundaries of quill and ink
Protected from unrestrained madness outside the lines
Teeming to fling the new birthed unexplored essence into crypts
Of unending oblivion where arches restrain full spectrum hues,
Swallowed by the mischief of cyber chasms
Where guilty remnants shove blind mystery into
Unheard screaming abyss',
Preserved,
Sheltered by boundaries inside the interval’s signature
Tethered to a moment

the sound of departing train,
hushed wind, incessant rain,
separation and parting pain,
waving each other goodbye!
as the train journeyed you far,
leaving on time’s face a scar,
prising open our lives ajar,
waving each other goodbye!
silence after the last carriage,
like the last page of a marriage,
alone amongst strange baggage,
waving each other goodbye!
a hint of tears in your eyes,
a faked smile towards skies,
result of broken once deep ties,
waving each other goodbye!
sometimes I stand at that pavement,
waving an imaginary goodbye!
still tethered to that moment,
I feign a smile, and tell a lie!
