I remember
the way your eyes
would light up
every time you
smile.
I remember
our strange ways.
the way we
joked pointless jokes,be!
laughed for pointless reasons.
I remember our
false innocence
The way we ran in the rain.
When the librarian
yelled at us
and we laughed.
I remember
how we ate mint chocolate
and got hyper,
and you took my ten dollar bill
and I lost it after
you gave it back to me.
And now,
All that's left of that
are our inside jokes.
And every time
I see someone
get mint chocolate,
I think of the best day of my life.
Where Did The Time Go
When we are young the time goes so slow.
All we think of is when will I grow.
Our parents tell us it will happen soon enough.
We want to grow up so we can act like we're tough.
We see all the things that grown ups can do.
Like driving a car and staying up later than you.
But when we hit that age about twenty or so.
We start realizing how fast time can go.
Before we know it we want the time to go slow.
We want to spend as much time with the ones that we love.
Because before we know it we get that call from above.
The reason I wrote this poem is to symbolize anything that ever catches you in the
clutches of temptation, be it small like chocolate as this is, or bigger like ****,
smoking, alcohol, etc..fill in the blank, everyone has something that it seems like they
can't quite conquer. The struggling and the realization that nothing on this earth with
satisfy that God sized whole in your heart, even if at the beginning you believe that it
will. Thanks for taking the time to read. Hope you enjoy.
A romance swirled in cocoa brown and creamy white
Smooth flavor
Charming you to take another bite
Promising to stay with you forever and ever
The allure of wanting more
So much more
Beckoning to catch you
Catch you in its trap once again
Enticing
Ever inviting
Daring you to take another bite
Sinking deeper into temptation
But the fun is over before you know it
Never getting enough
You're always wanting just a little more
Your mind in turmoil
Questions flooding
Racing
Why does this happen every single time?
But you fall to the ground
Every time afterwards
Brought down lower than before
Always
With the same answer
Chocolate never really loves you back
We spent time together,
Laughing and kissing,
It was incredible
And it still is.
We spent time together,
Crying and hugging,
A moment we shared,
Bringing us closer.
We spend time together,
Baby, we're in love,
Forever and always,
The best of you and me.
Every time I see you smile
it makes living my life worth while
Every time you look my way
your gaze makes my day
Every time I hear your voice
I feel I am making the right choice
You’ve dug yourself a hole
That, from which you can’t escape
Your lies are now about you
Covering you like a cape
All this time you had me fooled
By what I only chose to see
But now your secret’s out
And no longer safe with me
You withheld the truth
You though you could get by
I can’t tell you how hurt I am
To know you feel the need to lie
Why would a person do that?
What made you think you should?
Why would you lie to me?
Was it just because you could?
Your words come over me
Like a bucket of ice
And crawl upon my thoughts
As though a field of mice
So next time you feel lonely
Don’t come looking for me
For by then I will be done with you
My tears you will not see
