An Elated Mood

Calm halts clouds swollen with snow,
they will resent the continuous blow
of the four winds of bitter February;
an unleashed snowstorm is pure fury!

An elated mood rises amid the air of glumness,
April rain is far from the mornings of tearfulness;
snowy meadows will return to their vivid lushness...
even winter birds can't wait for spring cheerfulness!

I fret thinking about isolated days,
activities are limited to sceneries;
be a skier and be ready for thrills:
see deer leaping on foxes' trails!

Walking is exploring the quite wilderness
under the glistening coat of magical whiteness;
Jays that ate berries miss their sweetness...
all birds rely on feeders on those harsh winters!

Travel the whitened roads of the stunning wilderness,
they offer reflective poets joyful quotes of stillness;
a long ride on a saddle horse going at a slow pace
opens up the landscape to a stream with a lively dace!

stuck in a low blue

     bubbling with mock tearfulness-

          stealing wild thunder

          someone else could make

     a blue canvas of brightness-

          rhythmic wild impulse

The Critic - Art and Poetry - By Bob Atkinson

The Critic - Art and Poetry
 - by Bob Atkinson

'tis always easier to criticize
than is to do it yourself
although in truth the latter
contains far more fun and mirth

my point lies somewhere in between
good and bad of poetry
adjustment for the mainstream
how we absorb idealistic dreams

to see this in a different light
with crystal covers on the lens
we can, with open eyes
love writers with sharp pens

those who look beyond the fluff
and understand good meaning
divest themselves of constraints
and pursue a different dreaming

they see a world with tearfulness
not holding on to chains
which produce establishments
that grate and agitate

my desire in this arena
carries to all a simple message
don't let the future be determined
by past usage and direction

what you see is fabricated
a reality far from real
poo pooing things that matter
holds their only zeal

me, I've grown accustomed
to my meaning zipping by
heads of those who look
only at the surface side

doesn't mean I'm disheartened
to try is not hard at all
when you feel compunction
to rearrange it all

She pours out her soul in the hopes of not
To be beaten just like the night before
Fear envelopes deep within her thin bones
She prays for rain knowing she will be sore

But often she takes the blunt of the force
To keep her children safe from any harm
There are quiet nights of peace when he’s not drunk
There was a time when she fell for his charm

Now she just hopes her husband isn’t mad
For she knows who will suffer from his pain
She carries the heartache and tearfulness
That is why she always hopes for the rain

There will be a day when she will leave him
She’ll get up the nerve to leave him behind
She will be safe and secure once again
And there will be a sweet man that she’ll find
