My thoughts today, if “U” were “I”
imagine how to justify
An accidental “switcheroo”
would change it all around for you
You thunk you typed the word to think
That brunk you right back from the brink
That truck that you drove home last night
would be a trick! that sheds some light!
If “I” were “U”, I’d check my work
a duty that we ought not shirk
with sicks and sucks and picks and pucks
and don’t forget those ticks and tucks
Good Luck would now be a Good Lick
not bad but you know, it might stick
and serving Duck would be a kick
instead, you would be serving @!@!
And Just in case anyone thinks that the last line is “bawdy”
I was referring to the British pudding with dried fruit!!!

A ghost
of his old self.
A stranger
in his own life.
A lost soul.
His self-image,
broken down.
His behavior,
and personal beliefs,
drastically changed.
A switcheroo
of his values;
new ones
replace the old.
A young man, erased.
He's nothing
he was before.
Programmed.
Brainwashed.
A walking tragedy.

Sun's Switcheroo
Last week I saw each day the sun was shining.
To be out in the sunshine I was pining.
But first my work I had to do.
I’d finish up my work and plan to go
outside to write, in hopes that words might flow
every afternoon well after two.
I first would eat late lunch, then take a peek
outside. To my surprise each day last week
Sun hid away as dear time flew!
Behind the clouds, the sun would go, and twice
it looked like it would rain! That was not nice.
My disappointment grew.
It is a new week now; it’s after four.
I’ve gone out to my deck, which I adore.
Sun is out. No longer am I blue.
Sun’s done a switcheroo. It will be a feat
if I can stand to write more verses in this heat,
feeling like I'm in a pot of stew!

Way before the Mayor died,
He planned out to a T
Exactly what the wording on
His tombstone ought to be.
The only items missing
Were his dates of birth and death,
Considering he didn’t know
When he’d draw his last breath.
But when he died, the headstone carver
Made a little goof,
And only after he was done
Did he get his reproof.
It seems he etched the year of birth
As 1942
Instead of 1924,
A harmless switcheroo.
But it’s ironic, don’t you think,
That there would be a glitch
When Koch mapped every detail
To go off without a hitch?
It proves we really can’t control
How others might behave,
But all who knew Ed Koch believe
He’s laughing from his grave.

Calamari
Have you heard the latest about calamari
If you haven’t yet eaten, stop now or be sorry
Rumors abound – maybe cheek in tongue
Of a gross switcheroo of squid and pig bung
A friend’s cousin’s friend’s sister once dated
A guy from a meat packing plant, so it’s stated
Because of the cost of the great tasting squid
That is exactly what his packing plant did
It’s kind of disgusting but plausible still
When you’re short on a product but have orders to fill
Battered and fried to a cute little ring
Pork guts or squid – it looks like either thing
But order it out and look closely to see it
They both look the same so it just might be it
Or set up a fryer and conduct your own test
Is fried calamari or deep-fried bung best
And if the FDA wants to end the disputes
They can simply approve the deep-fried pork poop chutes
Another news story I thought you might like

In his nature two halves vied.
Dr Jekyll and beastly Hyde
struggling each to get outside.
Jekyll cooked up a potent brew.
When he drank it: Switcheroo!
What resulted scared him too.
Had he been a smarter doc
he'd have scooted round the block
to the mental health hospital for some electro shock.
They'd have had him analyzed
(Schizoid type, externalized),
then, his psyche normalized.
Traumas would be transitory.
Gone would be all the details so gory
and then loused up would be a nifty story.
