Dates in the bookstore
Hiding behind shelves
Take me to a hotel
Where we both know how it'll end
Take me for a ride in the city
Windows down, the air's chilly
Your hand on my thigh, calling me pretty
Let's ride till we both get dizzy
Take me to a park
Where we can sit close and chat
Enjoy the sunset
And get lost in the dark
Take me to a cafe
Cold coffee in the heat of May
Dressed in sundresses and shorts
Now let's go ride a horse
Take me to a sports club
I know you love to play
Let's play together
And I'll show you I too am good in the game
Take me to a beach
Throw me in the sea and start a water fight
Then let's lie down and stargaze,
And end the night
Take me home
Where be both are alone
Let me breathe in your cologne
And stay with me till the sun has shone
Because forever's not long enough
I want you for some more
If it's possible,
Then let's go on dates forever, cuz I'll never get bored

my garden is ravaged weary . . .
withered roses in a blue vase
murmur of drowsy sun-drenched days
oh, adieu ~ picnics in the green
ta-ta, sun hats, sandals, swim suits . . .
bye-bye shorts and sundresses
and farewell to . . . cricket songs at dusk _

HOT SUMMER DAY
hair’s fallen, wet.
clinging shirt with sweat.
shoe’s barely protect
my feet, from the pavement’s heat.
i climb aboard the bus, no
air conditioning, of course,
and head to the bustling city streets.
perspiration stains and inpatient glances
all shout, with the fervor of a wet dog, shaking himself.
i depart this catacomb.
windows decorated with sundresses and sandals.
the dummies never bat their eyes nor stink,
though the steam seeps into every crevice.
i’m glum and irritated,
the heat pressing on every thought.
i’ve come here to find a gift -
and i do i do i do
not in the shops
but in the street.
i hear the uproarious laughter
of children.
the city street has sprung
a fire hydrant leak.
oh those tinkling voices,
like crystal, lifting up my spirits!
oh the joy of splashing waters
and the serendipitous smiles!
oh how i can live
through the glorious eyes
of happy children.
my heart forgets my complaint.

In one of her melodies of sundresses,
Heavenly Light erupts in full blaze,
well dressed in yellow, orange, and caramel.
The audience is passionately waiting
to bathe in her extraordinary performance,
of her golden rays.
With the evening coming to an end
creation cannot hold back with a standing ovation.

The long, languorous
days of summer
have arrived.
Good-bye sweat shirts,
long sleeves and jackets.
Hello shorts and tanks,
bathing suits,
and sundresses.
Bring on the
pool parties!
Break out the grills -
it's barbecue time!
Who wants to
go camping?
I do! I do!
Gather the tent
and sleeping bags.
Don't forget the
fishing poles
and sunscreen.
It's summer time, folks!
Can't you hear
the beach calling
out to you:
"Come and Play!"
"Come and play!"
Frolic in the
waves and build
castles out of sand.
Let your inner
child cut loose and
celebrate summer!

Little Lulu, a cute little girl.
in her sundresses loved to just twirl.
Around she kept going,
pink underpants showing.
Her life would become one big “whirl.”
In grade school, she grew to be wild.
Upside down, in the playground, this child
from the monkey bar hung
in her sundress among
all the boys standing round her, who smiled!
As a teen, Lulu still loved to wear
a sundress to make young men stare.
She was thought a great sport
when she wore a dress short,
legs crossed as she sat in a chair.
Little Lulu was so hot to trot
her affection by many was sought
till that cute buttercup
got finally knocked up.
Then a white wedding sundress she bought!
The years crept up quickly on Lulu.
On her porch she now stands and calls, “You-hoo!”
to every old guy
who might give her the eye
as she twirls the huge skirt of her muumuu!

How come I never looked like Hot Stuff in a sundress?
My sundresses by comparison look anemic and shapeless
My figure is not what it used to be (it is hopeless)
It’s fallen down, spread out and looks a trifle excessive
Hot Stuff’s figure is lush, provocative and caressive
Her sundress is stylish, vivid and really expensive
My secondhand garb lacks style and are oppressive
Maybe a sundress worn at seventy-five is not impressive
Whereas, Hot Stuff’s body and dress are “in your face” aggressive
Am I too hard on myself, too critical and depressive?
Let’s face it; I’ll never look like Hot Stuff in a sundress
Just thinking about it makes me manic-depressive
Hot Stuff’s look is suggestive and expressive
Whereas mine is age-regressive and inexpressive
I never looked like Hot Stuff in retrospect
Yet we all have “our day” in one way or another, I suspect
I had mine so it’s time to step back and reflect
(Kindly!) on our replacements without resentment
Wishing them splendor in the sun without impediment.
