Steely Dan
Steely Dan Tribute
Rikki please don’t lose that number
I begged and pleaded.
Sorry, but I know you like Peg
better.
But Rikki I thought we were still reelin
in the years.
Sorry, but you’re a real loser, that is
why they call you Deacon Blues.
Ran outside and saw Kid Charlemagne
who was tryin’ to hire someone to
do his dirty work for

Steely Love
O Lord, whose heart so eclipses my own,
it is proper for you to draw and beg
a soul to come into the light you've shown;
the seed that plants is greater than the egg.
But at my finest hour, I'm but dim -
a shadow of my Holy creator.
The love I offer can't compare to Him,
and I can't ensure

Romance In the Reflections of the Steely Green-Eyed
"Romance in the Reflections of the Steely Green-Eyed"
Romance is in the
reflections of the
steely green-eyed
time stolen and framed
bars to freedom
champagne dreams remain
the prisoner’s heart ignominious
kept safely in a treasure box
poetry lies laconic in the lap
kept criminally magnanimous
a hand gently caresses
a missing mind
pulling out unheard
singular words
famished and ravenous wings
flying off the

No Need For Steely Dan
playing her
Jew's harp
jaw mouth
and juice
harp
my tongue
as if a fast
finger plucking
her only known
linguaphone
fleshy
turning
moaning
tones to a
solo singing tune

Galvanized With Steely Mettle
Countless instances submitting poems
finds me racking
quite a hefty collection of rejections,
the responses lacking
disappointing voluminous vicious
venomous vitriolic backing
quite the contrary,
the prefabricated responses
unsuccessful at hijacking
my "FAKE" toothy gumption
(since I wear dentures) lip smacking
bite size packing
not exceptionally appetizing,
but definitely wanting
with more pungent acidity stinging
(albeit figuratively) painfully digging
into the essence of all bone marrow,
asper this humble,
who will brazenly continue

Striking Steely Eyes
Steel – striking steel
Her eyes demure
With a stare
Stern – congruous
Strongly infiltrated
Harshly deviated
Not from heartache
But from necessity
Crazy tears flow
Not from the pain
That crosses paths
With the hard creases
But from the nature
Of steely eyes
Crashing into oblivion
Where she falters
I hone into one
Of those fierce eyes
To stare at the universe
And its infinity
Cold – drowned below
Oblivion crushes
The steel eyes
That she strikes
Closed

Steely-Eyed Bunny Wabbits
steely-eyed bunny wabbits
she smells like perfumed soaps and spray paints
i want parts of her reality in unnatural ways
steely-eyed bunny wabbits couldn't be more bold
as she is traipsing round the backstreets at a quarter to three
with a dogeared copy of catcher in the rye
just wants to be heard
just wants somebody to know how it feels
she writes

Below Steely Cold Skies
Steel grey skies
Ice cold winds
Chilled waters
In freezing tinge
Mountains despondent
Below gloomy clouds
Bare naked trees
No greened shroud
Cutting waters flow
Cold crystal pure
Hampered by ice
Winters contour
White crocuses brave
Winters wild
Blooming early
With their growing smile
Even the heather
Bows to the cold
Internally in shiver
Where normally bold
This winters scene
Below steely cold skies
Isn't nature amazing
How her plants survive

Steely Eyes
Nostradamus,
When you
Speak of
Fate and destiny
Of mankind,
The future
Have ears
The neon glaze
Appears across
Your steely eyes, but
We are still made of
Flesh and bone
