Signs of summer dwindling away show themselves
Yellow buses exclaim school is in session
Children no longer fill the parks through the day
Parents breathe a sigh
Teachers prepare great lessons to mold young minds
Eyes wide with wonder at what they discover
At three the bell rings and hastily they go
Home or to practice
I sigh a big sigh and smile for the thoughtful
Insights of my students throughout the quick day
I breathe deeply and prepare for tomorrow
To do it again.
I wouldn’t change my career choice for the world.
There is a lot of dumb politics involved
With pay and contracts and appeasing parents
But it is worth it!
For years I’d begged my parents for a puppy
Sam was a surprise gift for my ninth birthday
With his huge dark brown eyes and long waggy tail
I was just smitten
When I returned home from school, he’d fetch his lead
then wait patiently by the door to go out
I’d promised my parents I’d take him for walks
to the local park
That year we had such a glorious summer
We’d play outside all day in the bright sunshine
Autumn came, with drizzle and torrential rain
I hated those walks!
The reality of owning Sam hit home
In rainy weather we still had to go out
But I’d made a lifelong commitment to Sam
my four legged friend

Mom will never understand, why I don't
want to go to school, there's no charm; they don't
allow dog, forces me to be alone.
I envy you, none tells you to attend
school; for me Mom is strict I've to attend
they put me in bus without my consent.
Don't you feel, school time is a total waste
So many tasks to do, my time they waste
Remember how those squirrels we had chased.
Do you think, a face to face talk will stop
them to send me to school; think how to stop;
You know that frog is in box on desktop.
Even other day teacher called Mom to tell
frog in my bag croaked twice; what's need to tell?
How I know, frog croaks in daylight as well?
As I take my last breath
The pathway to my death
Is the Arc of a Rainbow
In Darkness, unforeseen
With a Soul, so unclean
As a Raven’s or a Crow
I can feel this new Life
Sounds of bagpipes and fife
An Eternity, to Grow
