Yet, if I lend it to you
Fairly, I need lend it to everyone,
Or have my motivations called into question
Acknowledging with conscientious grace
Always offering a kind smiling face
No brow beatings when someone nears
Cheerful greetings alleviate fears
Let those through the doors before yourself
Retrieve the book, the higher shelf
Pipe the answer they fail to see
Feed the fires of waning glee
The wind blows; so bends the tree
Fulfill the needs that fall to thee
A goodly mission,
But what pay is my part?
A kinder disposition,
A compassionate heart.
(“Before the Door”, 2023, original encaustic)
The older I get
The less concern I have
About ever being a saint,
But I’m sure that was a motivation
When I was younger
Although I’d have been loath to admit it.
Being a saint means being perfect,
At least in the final effect
If not the cause,
Being good enough to redeem one’s mistakes,
Help others and even make the world
And universe a better place.
Or so I thought.
Now, as I care less
About being saintly,
I see perhaps it means less about changing
Than simply acknowledging even celebrating
Others, the world, the universe, Life
Exactly as it is,
For the perfect creation
It’s always been.

TO BEING IN GOD’S AWARENESS
Each day, trials and tribulations,
Seems to water down our traveling ways;
Likewise, are God’s survival rafts given
To survive and overcome them all:-
Each day, God gives us, He’s always with us;
While we—at times—may tend to abandon God,
He is always present to guide us on our way:
God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit:-
You ask me how to become great?
Allow me a moment to extrapolate.
Eliminate the things in your life that are fake.
What remains, your authentic self,
Will guide you to be yourself,
Which will reveal that you are great.

Faith in the Lord
Let my faith* in the Supreme Lord
Shine like the flame of a fierce light
And ease the burden of my load;
Let my faith in the Supreme Lord
Shield me from dark clouds of discord
And lift me out from darkness of night;
Let my faith in the Supreme Lord
Shine like the flame of a fierce light.
on the last day of the calendar year
do we feel an urge to express ourself
speak of desire or a deep rooted fear
as unfinished work still left on our shelf
shifting contemplations from head to heart
in vibrance, with sounds of silence syncing
no task for us remains we need to start
as we attain awareness unblinking
poised in the void as a flicker-free flame
feeling within bliss pheromones mingle
the cosmic gong within, echoes God’s name
whereupon our soul’s eye becomes single
on the last day of the calendar year
by fully releasing moments gone by
pristine presence feels God’s presence draw near
seeing Him in plain sight, before we die
I will keep my head up with pride.
I'm a human and I'm fine.
Life is hard and very scary,
But I manage to prove it daily
That I'm tough and I don't care.
Little beings around us fly.
Others move slowly on the ground.
To survive is all they want.
They succeed, and all is fine.
Animals are abundant.
All they do is play and eat.
If they are free and do what they want,
They are happy on this earth.
As we see, there are many ways
To achieve our happiness.
All we need is a bit of strength,
And we will see that life has purpose.
Every human on this earth
Should have peace and plenty of time,
To be loved and to love back.
That, I think, is how to live.

When the End of Our Journey is Near
Let us our journey `s end greet when it is quite near,
Let us greet it with a smile on our face.
Let us greet it without a grain of fear,
Let us the thought of the Lord in our mind bear.
Let us greet Him as a dad to us merciful and dear
With His heart flowing like a fount of grace;
Let us our journey`s end greet when it is quite near
Let us greet it with a smile on our face.
When my eyes shall close for the final time
And all I have thought is no longer visceral
The me you thought you knew is no more
What I believed, however, will never be null
The poems I composed, the songs I sang
Sustain me in an ethereal, spiritual alter-ego
I shall continue to influence the world I knew
Perhaps from a bubble of illusion, now so real
More real than the world from which I flew
Do not think because they say I have gone
That I’m no longer an influence from beyond
For I shall continue to motivate for morality
When I am beyond this veil of temporality.

Please grant me the motivation
To pursue my ideal vocation.
Please give me patience and love
In all of my relations.
Please bless me with a happy marriage
As a reward for me having become a better person.
Please ensure all my belongings
And loved ones are always protected.
Please make real my deepest and most beautiful
Dreams I have in mind for my life.
Please help me remember why I am living this life,
And to always see the beauty of life, in everything and everyone.
Sometimes from nothingness
Fantasies will appear
The fertile mind awake,
Envisions hopeful scenes
Future paths we may take.
Sometimes from nothingness
Come visions from afar
Teaching us life lessons,
Help us find better ways
When ignorance threatens.
Sometimes from nothingness
Whispers of truth prevail
Command mind’s attention,
Channels our baser mood
To nobler dimension.
Sometimes from nothingness
Creative juices flow
Direct one’s energy,
Engage grander pursuits
In partnered synergy.

If desire be the causation of our action
Having roots in dissatisfaction
Requiring movement from here to there
Failing to see God everywhere
Know that we are enmeshed in delusion
Ego urge being the motivation

God guides as you go forward* in His light’s glow
Opening to you avenues for divine “hello.”
Faith in His power girds you as His Word you follow
Obey Him earnestly midst worldliness’ blow
Rely in His grace; never in self-pity wallow
Work well, overcoming commitment that’s shallow
Advance the Lord’s kingdom against persecution-billow
Ready to stand for His truth though weariness makes you slow
Driven for triumph’s height along gratitude’s flow.
*Exodus 14:15 And the LORD said… speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.

Monorhyme in Acrostic form
Not good at it
I gave up early in life
trying to color
without crossing
the lines,
or not making up
my own words
and spelling
to conform--
though grades did matter
and my teachers
far wiser in
the greater scheme
of things;
so God, someday
I suspect,
will be greatly pleased
or rejective of me,
neither of us
enamored
of lukewarm
and predictable.
