                                        Abandon not the Soul

Ill fated is a man who abandons
The silken shines of his silvery soul,
Makes relentless search of wealth his cannon
Pursues piling of riches as his goal
Lets the light of his inner self to die
And ever treads his journey with a sigh.

Wealth alone can not secure happiness
If one can`t hold time`s wing to stand and stare
If one`s mind is swayed by clouds of distress
If one`s toddler and spouse one cannot care
If one can`t cherish rainbows in the sky
If one can`t eye birds chirping on trees high.

                             Wealth alone cannot procure happiness
If it begets greed for more and more wealth
If it afflicts one with waves of sadness
If it impairs the crux of bodily health
If it lulls the senses and jails the mind
If it makes one out of reach from one`s kind.

Wealth alone can`t pledge breeze of happiness
If one`s heart is cast in hard basalt stone
If for human kind one feels no kindness
If one somehow, singly suffers alone
If one can`t stoop to lend a helping hand
To a friend in need or to starving men.

                             Wealth alone cannot ensure happiness
If one can`t spare time the soul to nourish
The inner self to scan with steadiness
And flame of the divine light to cherish,
Let`s not abandon the soul to decay
Or in midst of the dense forest to stray.

The inner self is a deep sea of peace
A glowing light that guides our path in life
A profound ocean of long lasting bliss
The gentle breeze that blows away our strife
The sparkling shine that serves as a beacon
When down a deep ditch we are abandoned.

The soul that imparts vigour to the self
Is the essence of human existence
The cause of being that glows on oneself
The rudder that regulates one`s conscience,
Let us not abandon our shining soul
But strive to sparkle its shine as a whole.

Congratulations on your winning work. Way to go. Wealth can't give us anything except possessions and sometimes people will attach themselves to someone with money until the money is gone. Love is the key to happiness. Sara K
