The North wind blew, ominous, nights now longer,
testing resolve, deepening dread, the fear of
darkness stalking, time to distil impulses …
lighting lamp of love.
The East wind blew, promising warmth of sol’s touch,
proximity to the source enlivening
heart, thus bringing boons of grace, that gratitude …
lights the lamp of love.
The South wind blew, caused on soul choosing to shift,
resting thought forms, magnetism stirring within,
kundalini dissolving karma, that we …
light the lamp of love.
The West wind blew, last life breath, teleporting
presence from earth to heaven, making soul’s eye
synced with divine consciousness magically …
lighting lamp of love.

From the DUST DIN of demolished LUST I’ll rise
The GLEE of love WITHIN ME won’t ever die
My HEART will hear it sigh HURT when it cries
I FEEL TENDER touch in the SPLENDOR of south wind
Fly from ABYSS to the TEAL horizon of BLISS I’ll try
Through the silver SHROUD of CLOUD in my mind
From placid PLATEAU joyous streams FLOW THROUGH me
On my NEW WING I’ll soar and SING in the sapphire sky
The VIEW of the reflected rapture rainbow HUE I’ll see

This life, a brief thread
to string moments
like pearls or trinkets.
With a last breath,
we can count
nothing as our own.
Why measure now
the weight of loss, gain,
praise, or blame—
no more than rice
to be nibbled at by rats.
The south wind is strong today.
The departure of any love
is to be expected. Still,
the sudden flight of the nightingale
shakes the fronds
of the gooseberry tree,
her green fruit bitter when ripe.

Pink, with elegant, sun-loving petals, scented,
plush and lush, like hued nebulae, suspended.
Preoccupied with visitors, south wind and rain,
plum butterflies and more, ever coming again!
Pretty prestige; minty green, garden's delight,
Pearly pink buds, under nomad clouds of white,
Peaceful in nature, like a silvery moon at night.

What if my dune mind dries in the desert
Dream clouds of parched passion don’t come low
Make your shifting shadow overcast my heart
My horizon will wait for the south wind to blow
Bring your mystique clouds in sunset glow
In spectral surge in the desert desire will flow.
What if you are a tree in the flourishing forest
Branches send to the satin sky your sheen
For a while in your shade I will rest
See the canopy capture the gleam under sunscreen
Hear the song the leaves sing with the rain serene
Sink in your fathomless elegance where I haven’t been.
What if the yearning river in my valley gets lost
The flowers wither in the garden turning fallow
I will preserve some, the ones you like the most
In my wasteland sapling of hope will again grow
When the rains will bring you through the rainbow
The flowers will embrace you, it’s me you will know.

Clouds loom drifting, passing by,
The west wind gently tempts them on
Though no one knows what cause them cry
And no one hears their pleading voice
As all their acid tears well dry.
Snowy white, in rank and file,
The south wind warmly glides them far;
Smiling wryly all the while
Natant high above the earth
Ambling on, mile after mile.
Alluring to the offhand glancer
The east wind briskly chafes them forth
Skittering like the showtime dancer
Yet hidden deep within their breast
A growing rude and covert cancer.
But nature's wrath will bid her toll
The north wind casts the clouds astray
Freezing, breezing, pole to pole,
The stricken, tainted, wisps will wane ~
Dare no one care to save their soul?
So now as time is dwindling low
As the ill winds clime their worst
The poisoned rains, in flooding flow,
Rape our land to end mankind ~
And still, the winds shall wanton blow.

Down the gradient of meandering verdant valley
Draining down the dregs of the fading dusk
Beyond the threshold of the wild woods thick
My white stallion gallops in the emerald prairie.
Gossamer gloss sparkles on the supple skin
Wisps of silky cloud swirl on the satin mane
Tossing on swinging waves of the south wind
The equine beauty canters out of my heart.
Bent blades of jade grass sway in sinuous ruffle
In sync with the rhythm of the bolting ivory grace
The tilted hooves hover in the transfixed air
Panorama of motion captured in sublime silence.
Soaked in twilight glow we cross the last pasture
Floating on cascading spectrum of the setting sun
Beyond the glowing horizon of grandeur I see
The portal of heaven opens for my horse and me.

Life Is Like The Wind
You never know
what each wind holds
or where they come from
and where they blow
Winds from the north
has it's course
bringing with it
every source
So, you look to the east
and you search the west
waiting patiently to
put your troubles to rest
Then to your surprise
the south wind arrives
it carries with it
life's changing tide
giving you a choice
to be foolish or wise
So, the next time
you hear the wind blow
watch and see
where it goes

The south wind came and it blew so strong
it sent my backboard where it didn't belong
Busted and crooked it warped so much
from the Gods of winds performing their thrust
Now my basketball has no fair of play
it's gone all torqued up throughout the day
But the rim is still in level condition
my ball maneuvers will have a pure rendition
Next time I will remember to anchor things down
or I will likely have a much bigger frown

The north wind blew and we were home
in front of a roaring fire amid perfumes
of plum puddings, pies of spicy mince,
fruit cakes, marshmallows and eggnog.
All around the warm sitting room
colorful balloons, tinsel, and ribbons
lighted our house with joy,
trees blinked their softened lights
as we munched hot chestnuts
and drank sweet punch and cognac.
The south wind blew hot and humid.
The earth was arid and unproductive.
Children crawled on thin emaciated legs
bellies rumbling with hunger
and mouth parched with lack of dew.
Blow oh north wind, for we are safe,
Who cares what happens in other spheres?
Note: For how many years will Africa face famine. Right now around the world, five children die every minute as a result of malnutrition. Millions more live with the effects for the rest of their lives, because their bodies and brains haven’t developed the way they should. We need to act now to help these children. Where did you see her? The North Wind asked the south.
The south wind was not forthcoming, for she trusted him not.
Seriously, I have never seen the leaf elf, the North Wind said.
He was not about to see her either, she was not easily sought.
The Leaf Fairy Queen was at his feet, hiding in a pile of leaves.
She giggled a tiny bit, for she got tickled and forgot….
She was not supposed to give her away her identity, said Jeeves.
He was her prissy butler, and caretaker, but a father he was not.
The South Wind bristled up when she heard the tiny fairy giggle.
Luckily North Wind was busy chasing a flighty jack-a-daw.
Leaf Fairy Queen could not resist a summersault and a wiggle.
North Wind saw her and winked, to let her know he saw.

I'm a butterfly caught in the web of our poetry
Flickering like the madness in a candle's flame
Wanting you so very close to me
That you become my wild destiny, my love
You become my wild destiny
Our love is like a hot, wild south wind
That's churning lust and burning fire
This love's sweet mystery will never end
And will burn with eternal desire, my love
Burn with eternal fire
As we lay in soft whispers the moon cried
I felt your soul move with your kiss on mine
And deeply hold us with all the joy inside
As our breath made all the stars shine, my love
Shine until the end of time
Your eyes hold all of my worldly dreams
Oh how our broken wings will soar and fly
We will sail with full hearts on the endless seas
And walk the earth 'til we reach the sky, my love
Walk as one 'til we reach the sky

From dust of broken dreams I rise,
hear my heart how sadly it cries,
but the songbird in me won't die,
now my wings can soar in the sky.
I was captive in yearning cage,
your deception gave me courage,
won’t let freedom wind pass me by,
now my wings can soar in the sky.
I feel soft touch of fresh south wind,
wafting silver-lined clouds in mind,
to reach new heights of bliss I’ll try,
now my wings can soar in the sky.
After the rain storm drains my eyes,
I see the hues of rainbow rise,
luring me to leave nest and fly,
now my wings can soar in the sky.

Azure sea serene,
reflection of cyan sky.
In shadow of cotton clouds
the lone sailor drifts
away from his anchorage,
essence of life left on shore.
South wind on the sail
blows through abode abandoned.
Curtain of soul soars like cloud,
mind’s pages turn birds.
Life will sail past horizon
to unknown shore, to new home.
