Souring Poems | Examples

you promised

You promised me the days we sung and cooked and danced, painting each others nails would come back someday

You promised me, so i sat restless, watching the pass of everyday, pass me by, memories souring as the clock ran

Harmless illusions wipe away as i realize what i had been surrounded by, with each spent sunday i realised i was lucky when you ran away

Harmful children come from hazardus playgrounds,i was raised to bring pain, i know a million ways that i can

You promised, something so insignificant, you are someone who should never have been given a second thought, so why do i feel this way

You promised something so small, years later something that didn’t matter yet my mind still paints you a con-man

Harmless was never really a word i’d have thought to use for you unless in a singular action like today

Harmful even when you don’t realise i guess your the same in one way, you were a liar before our relationship began

The Bridge Above The Rivers Bend

Train bypassing just over the rivers bend
Sturdiest and unpromising of bridges, carry my feet along your lumber
Steal away the time I should be an honorable member of society
Keep me as your own and offer me company as you do the passing trains

Just before the sunrise do your wood beams greet the world, before those of the sun can
Eerily so do your shadows beautifully haunt weary folk in moonlight
But I stand unafraid and I walk along you, most enchanting bridge of pure delight

Outstretched arms and heightened ground consume my presence
Perhaps I will greet the river below, blow a cherished kiss
And dream of flowing with her as the fish flow by and by
Greeting all the places along the way I've yet to see
Scheming of making way to connecting streams and many the woodsy place

It is solely me now, guided under constellations and starlight
One with nature you could say, and so then I am not alone
I have met the river and jumped aboard, no more dreaming now
Souring like a bird through endless currents of this waterway's love

Hallways

Why must there always be a sacrifice souring the taste of something nice
Just a moment on the lips but a lifetime on the back shelf of the mind
Taking up space you can’t afford
You can barely pay your rent
Not enough to need to forgive but too much to forget
Maybe you are too kind
Wandering the hallways politely knocking on every door you find
Quietly praying that what lies behind is something you can finally put behind
The quest for answers usually begins with more questions
But the beginning has long since passed us
And let’s admit that we’re really tired
And though you tried you know you can’t fix open wounds with plasters
So leave it open it’ll heal faster
Don’t romanticise the scars
But remember to bathe in the beauty of the chaos
Because you are on your way to the stars
Even if your estimate was way off

Sacrificial Confusion

I wonder how many of us make the same blunder,
Giving others permission to plunder,
When we make sacrifices without number,
That will one day give us a face like thunder,
And a tongue that speaks kindly, no longer.

Are we truly understanding,
What is the nature of what we are sacrificing,
When our own happiness we stop feeling,
And all our relationships start failing,
With thoughts soon souring
As our sacrifice seems not to be working
And our sacrifice back to them we start throwing.

A true sacrifice,
Comes from a happy place,
With no chance of a sour face,
No matter what the weather is bringing,
Even when there is no happy ending,
When the loss of happiness is not part of the sacrifice,
As happiness should be the reason for it taking place.

The Burdened Mind

Taste not the souring within thy heart
Let your blood flow with sweet memories
If this taste becomes sour sweeten it with love
Love will concur all that will agree with the soul
For hate only blinds and captures your mind
Why waste thy love without a return
It then becomes trash for them to burn
Flee and fly among the stars up above
Then sore as an eagle and become a dove
Let not the heart be in this burden of pain
For life without your life is only, there gain
Wipe thy tears from thy eye stand tall above all
They are below you no matter, they will fall
God gave you this gift why throw it away
Live for today and play this game another day
Death is forever among the living
Let not them take this beautiful life given
Thoughts of hurt burdens the mind
But death is forever so clear,

The Mind

Premium MemberSad Pumpkin Head

Filled with despair and gloom was old pumpkin head.
His best friend had disappeared - both Charlie and Ned.
Where do you think they went? I asked him politely.
I guess they are angry with me, he said, and rightly.

I was not so nice, called them names and such.
I made fun of Charlie’s culture, you know he is Dutch.
I poked Ned in the chest a few times, real mean.
I guess Pumpkin Head learned a lesson on Halloween.

If you are not nice to people and push them away.
They might not be your friend the very next day.
Moral of this tale, be kind with every action and word.
Unless you want to live life alone, souring like curd.

Sweet Mistake

© Francis Maugo
Meeting him
Was one of the days
I cherished.
He showed me the way
His love for me was overwhelming
Despite being warned of his heinous acts,
I allowed my tender Heart
To accept his charming love.

Everybody warned me about you,
But I was too in love with you.
Now I know that love was lust.
Feels like my head might bust.
I can't believe you were the one.
I'm sick of boys, just done.
Now my heart is bleeding.

You jilted me after the
Pregnancy,
My life is perturbed
Heart souring
I regret me and you meeting.
Sometimes I wish I would die,
But all I can say now is bye.

Premium MemberHeart's Craving

Dreaming like a school boy crush
Two souls, two hearts entangle in ambition
To feel love, its comfort of desire
Feeling our soul, the depths of dark
Forever its life,a dream drifter
A forever being of two souls
One heart in a passion of feeling

My heart be still its beat
Souring the blue skies of heaven
My soul it finds rest in your hands
Walk with me this journey to illusion
Heart's Craving,a moment of time
Awakening beneath the star's shine
A devine intervention into reality

Now I sleep in silence the quietness
Fulfill my distance is broken
Hardly touching, just being alive
My arms, they crave you every second
To feel your breath from across the room
To hear your voice as if my own
A true compassion,a Heart's Craving
Reflection of a burning love
Heart's Craving, immersion into the blue

Moments Like These

As a butterfly rests upon a flower its beauty rises and falls with her wings. Looking high over the mountains the sky takes notice of the sun setting after a long day, radiating color for those to see. From rainy days when trees will turn their leaves to drink from Mother Nature herself. Life is a wonderful creation. Every creature that scurries the forest floor to the fowl souring high touching the clouds, we all find our place in this beautiful world. All these moments were created for us to experience beauty and grace. Not always understanding how or is because no matter happens there are blessings that await. We only need to open our hearts and eyes to see what is in store. Just like breathing comes naturally these moments fill us completely, so take every breath deep and exhale its beauty and grace.

High Off the Mountain Top

I live like a millionaire with out money
and dont know how to live off the fat of the land
without asking asking wheres the milk and honey
all i know is sunshine and getting some vitamin D
i can sing loud in the holler
with trees hiding me
our Tennessee valley is surrounded by a fish bowl moat
we are living high off the mountain without a boat
that's why our land prices is souring high
while homes in the valley are flooded with cries

So Sweet

Nolonger am l in the passenger seat
As she is now taking full command
I'm finding it hard though to retreat
As aided by the touch of her hand

The taste of her heavenly sweet
Casscaded to a far out wonderland
And the temperature souring, l'm on heat
Though still in orbit ! not wanting to land

It's how it always feels whenever we meet
Spontaneity ,never the same when planned
Of course as always the thought of a repeat
Though she says shes in constant demand

Premium MemberOur Bountiful God

Our God is bountiful because

He doesn't need to fret.
Yet is it wrong to think
His Christ as ludicrous?
Did he laugh at jokes, and smile
Or sing a hearty song
And did He need to brush his teeth?
Was He not made just like us
Save for souring sin?
It is after Easter, and I have nothing yet
Though He has caught and cooked
Some fish, and that without a net.
And I am laughing with him.

Our God is bountiful because ...

Fireflies of Lies

Fireflies of lies souring high, where pristine truth couldn't follow nigh
Like stupid ant sorting out, sand and sugar in just a kiss
I caught fireflies amid fallen leaves, blowing for fire of truth.
