Sacrificial Confusion

I wonder how many of us make the same blunder, Giving others permission to plunder, When we make sacrifices without number, That will one day give us a face like thunder, And a tongue that speaks kindly, no longer. Are we truly understanding, What is the nature of what we are sacrificing, When our own happiness we stop feeling, And all our relationships start failing, With thoughts soon souring As our sacrifice seems not to be working And our sacrifice back to them we start throwing. A true sacrifice, Comes from a happy place, With no chance of a sour face, No matter what the weather is bringing, Even when there is no happy ending, When the loss of happiness is not part of the sacrifice, As happiness should be the reason for it taking place.
