Premium MemberSorry, No Stars, No Wishes

Dear girl, won't you wish upon a star?

"Oh yes, so many stars there are!"

"Oops, my logbook, I can't believe -
with so many children since Adam and Eve,
I don't wish you to be disabused,
but every star's been used."

"What are you saying, Fairy Godmother?"

The last two were taken by your brother.

Premium MemberThy Sorry State May Soon Be Descried

A Parody of Sir Philip Sidney's Sonnet 31 from Astrophel and Stella

With wobbly steps, O Youth, thou climb'st the stairs!
How clumsily and with how red a face!
What! Dost thou trip and fall about the place
and pray thy folks sleep soundly, unawares?

Perhaps thy little brother who now sees
thee fall can be persuaded not to race
and broadcast to the house thy plunge from grace.
Thou could'st bribe him with money and say "PLEASE!"

Whil'st thou cling to the handrail, bleary-eyed,
now in thy shameful state, O Youth, pray tell
are friends thou partied with, like thee, unwell—
in fear, lest their condition be descried?

Those youth who guzzle beer in lieu of milk
will bring ignominy on all their ilk.

Premium MemberFrom Brother To Brother - My Father Too, Sorry

Like brothers do
We fought and cried
But brothers we were
Family tied

One parent, our father
Brought us up
An ill man
Who deserved so much

But that fateful night
Only one son came back
Knocked down
Dragged over blackened tarmac

Running home
Thoughts in my head
I can't say sorry
Boom Boom's dead

Into the arms
Of my distraught dad
Five minutes earlier
Two sons he had

If we had not raced
On that Monday night
If he was not so fast
So out of sight

He would be here
Beside my dad
I'm so sorry
For being so bad

For all our fights
He would rather see
His two boys being boys
In front of thee
