Premium MemberDream world

as a character in this lucid dream
within which we are now somewhat awake
although we do dance atop love’s moonbeam
in the background we are calm like a lake

life as already impulsed will unfold
and as a wave in the ocean we dance
but fears and desires have loosened their hold
both our mood and mode being nonchalance

we are that stillness, the eye of a storm
observing thought forms orbiting the heart
suffused at all times in magnetism warm
sensing with each breath bliss ignition start

having seen and so known God as a fact
within this dream we have ceased to react

Calm Ocean of Mind

A wide, flat horizon expands without end,
A glass-like level mirrors the sky to blend;
Soft shimmers of light jitter on the water,
Tender waves roll in the sea blue in color.

Rhythmic lapping of water against the shore,
Distant songs of seabirds that I can't ignore;
A soothing hush like nature's whispering sigh
Delivers mild voice that I cannot deny.

A cool, salty breeze brushes my hair and skin,
Steps slightly sunk into sand send me to grin;
The light spray of serene sea mist on my face
Refreshes me on a sweet day's warm embrace.

Clean, briny scent of sea air tranquility
Fills up my mind to avoid being empty.

Premium MemberThe Life of an Adventurer

A thousand ships through the dark nights sail,
to mysterious lands and adventurous trails.
With a thirst for life, I cannot rest,
when one is finished, there comes another quest.

I travel many paths into the unknown,
with each path completed, I know I’ve grown.
Though dangers lurk at most every turn,
I sense I’m protected; I have no concern.

I try new things all the time,
I’ve never seen a mountain I’d not try to climb.
Life is for living so bring it on,
I’ve never been broken except for a bone.

I’ll keep on a traveling across the seven seas,
Enjoying the adventure, and the ocean’s breeze.

Premium MemberSummer Sonnet

Each Summer blossom, rustle of the trees,
Spring’s over, I know your work is all done.
Every bird in flight, every gentle breeze,
Summertimes here to have fun in the sun.

Still glowing brightly, is the colored moon,
Wonderful perfumes drifting so sprightly,
Excitement of surprises coming soon,
Summer sun shining, shimmering slightly.

By the seaside the ocean is churning.
Such sunsets, the skies drenched in purest gold,
Notes you send, to tell me you’re returning,
Stunning scenes, fields of flowers to behold.

These wonders I cherish deep in my soul.
So when Summer comes round, I'm feeling whole.

GLOBAL WARMING

I remember those summers as a boy,
When the sun shone down from morning till night.
That sun on our backs brought us so much joy
And we laughed at those who’s skin was still white.
We knew nothing back then of UV rays,
As we lay on the beach by the ocean.
Sometimes we burnt on the hottest of days
And Mum applied some calamine lotion.
But now, of course, the scientists advise
Avoiding UV rays and CFC’s.
Each year the temperature will rise.
The human race will soon be on its knees.
Our planet will burn up, as likely as not,
As Cole Porter put it, “It’s Too Darn Hot.”

Go summer, come autumn

Days too long for the sun to bite still hard,
All trees bring forth leaves that are mostly green,
Different hues are what summer fails to preen,
With grace, yet with force, summer's hands bombard.

Rain may catch even the prepared off guard,
Its runoff sweeps paved roads fresh, clear and clean,
Its grains and pebbles make the oceans glean,
Yet it lets wild weeds grow in each farmyard.

Longer night, fall, I beg of you to bring,
With coolness that summer deprived me of,
So on my bed I can sleep like a king,
And turn it into a playground for love,
Where our love and our affection can sing,
As we playfully embrace, push, and shove.

Premium MemberMy Friend Is the Ocean

My friend is the ocean, waters that glide,
Rustling my footsteps and tousling my hair;
Many the times that we walked side by side,
A spark and forever, joined as a pair.
Always a cloud there lay over its play,
Dappled the sunlight that fell on my face;
Heaving, its waters had something to say;
Twilight with meteors it took for the place.
Rising from breakers, said spirit to me,
“Sunlight and storms must both in the sea lie;
These are my words,” sad the heart of the sea,
“Know that I love you, and by me, shall die.”
What is the darkness that’s in the sea’s soul?
What can it counter, and what not annul?

Each body cell is a part of our form
and has no independent existence,
enlivened by heart wherefrom flows blood warm,
health ensured if there be no resistance.

The universe is the body of God
and all that’s manifest, is breathed by Him,
wherein simply by giving love our nod,
rapture rises as our soul sings a hymn.

We are the drop and we are the ocean
but to become the whole, we must let go,
slowing down thought flow, gentling commotion,
that truth of our true Self we get to know.

Know that as we each fulfil our life role,
we are inseparable from the whole.

Devil's ocean

Im hearing voices in my head,
all muffled is the sound
Can't make out the words they've said,
Yet I'm surely set to drown.

Plug my ears to disrupt the waves,
As torturous tides begin to pull me in.
Lost within these endless caves.
From chaos, a life of sin.

Riptides calling me further out,
Into a sea of endless despair.
Nothing attempted; not a scream nor a shout.
Is heard there's no one there.

the roaring chaos of the storm is quieted to a hymn
God plucked me from the wreckage, and saved me from the swim.

A singular Drop; That's All There Was

I gaze upon an opaque silver sky,
Descending dewdrops, developing above the mustache maw.
Ascending the nape to taste cherubim cry,
Permeating petrichor, pervade the nasal in auspicious awe.

Palpable pain of tactile taps
Kissing canker sores and rainstorm rush.
Radically rampaging, for its rapid relapse
Rain, it's infinite, swirling fervor flush

To drown by an inundated impound,
A vehement, vicious, void that immersed,
Wandering weakly on the ocean gored ground,
Drowning, isolated lungs; bellowing burst.

The tyrant tsunami my miracle world-wide flood,
Exploding existence, imploding insistence, ichor pools; blackened blood.

And I gave her an easy catch

Let me try, spoon-feed me nor ever teach,
My big mouth said, help me reach to my bridge
Like olden-day gurus who would not preach,
Help me smooth out if you find a rough ridge
That allowed little light of truth to reach,
Stop utter darkness from declaring siege.
Just guide, help me old blockages to breach,
Let if some light enters from jutted ledge,
Just see, no doubts come from unforeseen edge.
I love exploring depths far from the beach
And acquire untapped ocean of knowledge,
Which, since childhood has been my quenchless itch….
Heck, wishing just a helping hand to stretch,
How I got grabbed, a self-goal, easy catch!

Note: I just wanted to give her a helping hand in her household chores, hoping to prove that I was not like others. But for my big mouth! As they say in Hindi: aa bail mujhe maar, a fool is always caught in his own words, this tongue-in-cheek sonnet shows.

Premium MemberPRECIOUS PLANET

Our precious planet plundered and poisoned.
We bite the hand that feeds us day on day
And hide our waste hoping it goes away.
Our greedy ways we refuse to amend.
Could we be heading for a sticky end
For all we do is simply hope and pray?
We are predators seeking easy prey.
Thinking not, we continue to pretend.

But we’re on a ship with broken rudder
And sailing a sea through storm after storm
In hope of finding land for more plunder
And never thinking we can come to harm.
We will beat nature for we’re so clever.
Let’s not bother; it might be false alarm.

If I Could Love Thee

If I could love thee in a thousand ways
The warmth of the sun's rays on chilly climes
Refreshingly cool breeze on humid days
As the soothing music during bedtimes

Your safe shelter amidst torrential rain
Limitless such as the deep blue ocean
A blazing wildfire that is out of rein
A serenading lover in motion

Fervour of the river to meet the sea
Butterflies drawn to colourful flowers
Dancing on a moonlit night, you and me
Nature’s resurrection after showers

Love is a kaleidoscope of colours
Beloved’s portrait in watercolours

Premium MemberFirst Time

Two people on the beach in Malibu
gazed at the ocean linking their two lands.
One of them was me. One of them was you.
To a drumbeat, deep, we were joining hands.

The waves and the rhythm of our young hearts
kept time to a flowering melody,
punctuated by cautious stops and starts,
lovely point and counterpoint by the sea.

A tasty dinner, Ye Olde King's Head,
then home, as I recall (though old and grey),
how on this journey, you were gently led,
as we found heartfelt treasures on our way.

It was like a gift given from above.
Your first time was when I first fell in love.

Premium MemberLove's Romantic Interlude

The twilight breeze moves the ocean slowly
as the tide moves its waves in compliance
on the horizon, the moon gleams holy
a rising soft scattered glow of silence
beneath this celestial sky, we hold hands
to dream on the seashore under moonlight
the roses we held have dropped to the sands
from kisses warm that fill our hearts with delight
where we'll leave footprints trailing on the shore
that will be filled by the dark sea of night
and travel to where love has been before
finding love at the sea till' morning light
the sea is where our love was found and bloomed
it's where our lover's heart will be consumed
