Friendship's Kindling

Yellow is your favorite color like the sun
while Aquamarine is mine like the sea
kindling our inseparable bond
like the sunrise and sunset
bursting over our warm tropical horizon

Premium MemberWhat You Are to Me, Must You Ask

What you are to me, must you ask?
Then let me say and say it well.
In the past, you once wore a mask,
a face of what I could not tell.
Then, like a god, you take to task
my proud conceit cloaked in a shell.

Today, intense and raven-haired
with wisdom fit for Pallas Athene,
you are the soul that always dared
to be the friend I've never seen,
the confidante with whom is shared
my hope of things that's never been.

Now, like the Atlas map and chart,
you're a compass to guide my paths
through hopelessness that filled my heart.
And so, life's trials and downdrafts
are less severe because you part
my sea of pain so I may laugh.

Friends Are Like Stars

Friends are like stars
Steady, glittery and bright
Embossed perfectly
With their yellow-white
To the black velvet
Of our dreary minds
Adorning them with
Eternal sparkles of light
Inspiring us with their
Deep keen insights -
Each one unique
Of it's own kind;

Friends are like stars
Luminous and lustrous
Radiating rays of hope
When in darkness we grope
As life's harried hassles
Leave us doomed and baffled
Eclipsing the brightness and
Cheeriness of our souls -
Each one glinting
With its warm glow.

Let Me Shake Your Hand

I once knew a man who first name, was Stan
would always go around and shake your hand.
Along came the bug Covid
such a shake was a forbid.
And an elbow touch
to Stan was not much.
But Stan was not to be defeated
for now when you are seen you're greeted.
With wave of his hand not a bye
and a warm voice Stan will say HI!

Friends

true friends are like sunsets
bright and warm, and make you smile
even when you don’t feel like it

Premium MemberChips and Salsa - Final Song Version

Chips and Salsa (22 Feb 2019)

Life could be better, but easily worse.
Sometimes I feel blessed, other times cursed.
As I get older, I look back and see—
Life’s mostly better, when you are with me.

Sometimes we argue, but don’t really fight.
I know you love me, so it’s all right.
You know I love you, so it’s plain to see--
Life’s clearly better when you are with me.

If you should leave me, don’t know what I’d do.
My life’s completely invested in you.
I’ve gotta keep you, wherever I go
Life’s surely better together, you know.

I’m moving forward, but keep looking back.
Anything missing? Anything lack?
With hindsight vision, I look back and see,
Life’s been always better when you were with me.

We’re like chips and salsa, with some cilantro inside (kinda feisty).
We’re like chips and salsa – with jalapenos inside (kinda spicy).
We go together, obviously; I hope, forever, that you’ll stay with me.
We’re like chips and salsa, with guacamole one the side (really tasty).

Like commode water
Once cherished times
Were flushed from the mind,

Cherished times pooled
Beneath observable wants
Leaving the pacifier of friendship
Resting between the lips of our souls.

Simile of a Smile

The whistling winds whip her words away,
the simile of a smile on her lips
fades and is lost in the deepening dusk.

there on the moist, soft sand her footprints melt
with the slow, oncoming tide at his feet,
he's got nothing to say to make her stay.
