Shortlived Poems

Premium MemberThe Indian Laburnum

Is gold blossoming in each branch?
At the end of spring, they fill the ranch.
Smooth, pale, or greenish-grey, crusty barks
Bright yellow, drooping Sundrops fill the parks.
In pendulous racemes, the flowers hang
As though ornaments of spring, they span;
Pinnately complex leaves sway in boisterous
Though medicinal, these flowers are poisonous.
In beauty, she resembles the Indian bride.
In her, the yellow Wagtail seems unidentified.
Strived, thrived, and ultimately survived;
Aren't, yet, her glamour and splendour shortlived?

Reflections: A Lonely Life of Death

The heart and mind meld this time
I would that I bleed, not cry
Bleeding tells them my body hurts
Crying reveals my heart and soul hurt

The tree of life is uncertain and short
Season in; season out, my life; your life
Is like a vapour, only musters to vanish into thin air
A hidden life speaks essence, yet is shortlived

The joy of happy moments
Is having one to revel in them with
To watch the mountain flowers bloom alone,
Is as sad, painful as a growing thorn in the flesh

The hurting body forthwith heals
Sadness in the heart may never heal
A frostbite that can metamorphose into death
May subside with one to comfort the sadness at night

Are you affrighted of death? Everyone dies
Are you affrighted of loneliness? Sadly we are lonely
Does it hurt to be wounded or cry? We have our times
Does it hurt to move on? We get by everyday

When we find our way to something new
The memories of the old oft tend to conflict
None can replace a life once and for all truly loved
Huge is the tree of life with its roots deeply buried in lonesome mud and silence

Premium MemberSeaside Winter Wonderland

The seascape, lies beneath a blanket of white.
From dunes to where waves touch the sand.
The scene is hazy in the day's gray light.
Creating a rare seaside winter wonderland.

Snowflakes so fine swirl in the air.
Before they fall to the ground.
Guesting winds toss them here and there.
They finally land not making a sound.

The wind causes drifting along the fence.
It is clinging to every window and door.
This predicted shortlived storm, is intense.
Mounting inches of snow, expecting more.

Wind is coming from the bayside,
pushing across the land to the sea.
Leaving an island with no place to hide,
The frigid winter wind, blows wild and free.

Premium MemberTake Me Home 2

After many years, I sat in a church service filled with culture, custom, ritual, and tradition. The experience took me back and reminded me of the early years of my childhood. The religious and worship experience of my childhood left much to be desired and afforded very little awareness of a Biblical world view. Today, as I sat, observed, and participated, I felt no real presence of a Christ-centered worship experience. No, I was not in a critical mood. These were my brothers and sisters in Christ. Instead, there was a deep cry in my heart and a weeping in my spirit. I do not deny that it is possible that I built a personal partition that may have hindered my worship experience. However, I knew what was lacking and so did others among them who had been massaged and soothed for many a year, but there was too little backing for long-awaited changes.

Realizing my stay would be shortlived and my contribution toward changes would be nill, I left with a feeling of helplessness but also with a hope and a desire to pray that God would rain upon the desert in a little church called Promise Land.

Fate Permitting

As I set my eyes upon you,
I was solely mezmorized,
Could the women of my dreams,
By chance, have now materialized?

The universe permitting,
Our paths will surely cross again,
As I set out into the sunrise,
On my mind your being has been.

The time we got to spend together,
Shortlived it may have been,
Has set my soul on fire,
Although it's not yet reached its end.

Since the day I left your side,
Your essence hasn't left my mind
We'll reconnect at some point,
For it is only a matter of time.

Stay strong my earthly angel,
I wish you nothing but the best,
If fate permits our next embrace,
Could be a sunset in the west!

For Shannon!

Temporary Apathy

As social political apathy begins to set in,
Truth becomes the enemy,
And lies become the bullets
Of the corrupted firing squad.

When immorality replaces decency,
Weak men become strong
Strong men become weak,
And the sturdiest of Oaks
Are splintered into firewood.

Apathy appears to be dangerous
For any civilization.
As the disappearance of reason
Is only silenced by ignorant ranting.
Stubborn, autocratic personalities,
Only an arrow point atop a straw shaft.
Never truly penetrating what's good,
But poking enough to be felt.

In a world
where everything is only temporary,
Even frustration will be,
For the most reasonable minded.
This apathy also will be shortlived.
Out of the chaos comes order,
But, how much longer until ?

Anonymous Cries

What happens between these
walls stays between these
walls, the walls that my head are
too familiar with,i've had
shortlived rendezvous so often
that I know wonder if these
walls feel what I feel
inside,something I will never
enlighten a soul about
It seems like I "fall down the
stairs" a lot these days,the
same way my tears tumble
down my face insignificantly
After all it is a frequent
ritual,resist,my meeting with the
walls is scheduled and the Nile
river flows
These anonymous tears will
forever flow,singing the cliche
song of a broken home

Premium MemberThe Scent of Lilacs

The door is open, the breeze blows in.
The sun is shining ever so bright.
The breeze tickles the lilacs, I breathe them in.
Their scent fills me with delight.
There's a glorious day in sight.

Spring ! oh Spring ! We waited so long
for you to put an appearance in.
The wait was worth it, I'm not wrong.
This beautiful day will begin
with the lilacs fragrance within.

They are the flower of Spring, 'tis true.
Shortlived but fragrant beyond compare.
So before we must bid them a sad adieu
let their fragrance fill the air.
Breathe in the scent of lilacs so fair.

Premium MemberThe Light

In a place benowst to me,
I stare at pathways far away,
To find a light that shines most bright,
I travel them but can't discern,
Which is prudent plot of course,
I look to see where I have gone,
But no clue comes to me from past,
I see the focused few in live,
I follow them for short lived time,
I see the flighty serpentine,
I follow them for shortlived time,
I see the flighty serpentine,
I follow them for shortlived time,
I see indifference standing still,
I stand with them for time until,
I see the thinkers mapping out,
And so I nap with them a course,
To what appears to be its source,
But in the midst of scheming this,
The plotted path is still amiss,
It seems that no one I do know,
Has found a way to find this glow,
And then in corner eye I see,
A trail revealed to only me,
And then I curse a wasted day,
Cause all along I knew the way.

One Sabine Woman

The conquered land is eroding.
The driven snow is melting
Because the blue flame is burning,
Probing through the rampart,
Penetrating the fortress
And pillaging the village.
The mighty are falling
And the weaker being ravished
Trying to kick the pricks,
But unguided passions
With shortlived victories
Violently possess! Then dispose.
As the blue flame wanes,
So goes the tyranny...
Until morning.
Rancidness, rancor, degradation
And loneliness remain
After the land is trampled.
After the snow is defiled,
There's a want for nothing,
A need for everything:
Love, hate, forgiveness, revenge.
Then a cry for childhood
Extending for knowledge of this hope
Reaches without taking hold,
So the four remain
Until the four are gained;
And the land still erodes.
The snow still melts
Because the blue flame burns.
It yet probes.
