David Davy Crockett
Frontiersman David (Davy) Crockett,
Often lived on dried fish and jerky kept in his pocket,
Wore caps made from the skin of varmints various,
The odour, ..no doubt, ... was nefarious.

Premium Member Ticks On My Back
ticks on my back
saying knock knock knock
no joke

wood ticks no doubt
deep woods varmints
burrowing in

biting me with gusto
heads buried beneath my skin
making me crazy

go get my Uzi,
my shotgun, my scalpel, my pen
I have a poem idea and it is a win....

Premium Member Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam
Bugs Bunny
Was smart, witty and funny
His tag line was what’s up, doc
Rivals would just stare and gaulk

Yosemite Sam
Made bugs and his buddies scram
Dubbed them all as mere varmints
He had a keen eye to their footprints

Squirrel Time
What's the purpose of the tail
on the squirrel who's
practicing his Braille--
his body hidden by the tree
with only a tail visible
to me?

Sends he Morse code
with that appendage
to other varmints of his lineage,
that he's found a tree that's
rather fine, grace a' someone
who protects her Pine?...

Premium Member Now That Leaves Blanket the Earth
Now that leaves blanket the earth And the squirrels are scurrying To store up for winter's dearth Now that leaves blanket the earth Value of tree nuts triple in worth That's why the varmints are hurrying Now that leaves blanket the earth And the squirrels are scurrying.

Pronto Pram's Metamorphose
felony figs feigning
pulpy punctured probity
mystic mist moaning
purpled eyes receding
damped desire drooping
salient severity scrunching

two temerarious Varmints -
callous ensconced embroidery
skins sans salmagundi

lusty leery lurching -
atuned atmosphere aiding
cranky coup clustering

chaetophorous Chipmunk saw,
pronto pram's metamorphose.

BUTTERFLY WINGS

Butterfly wings now my lovely garments,
not the same anymore,
Into Spring I have bloomed from my prison.
Escaping the varmints, not ashamed anymore.

There's now a new preservation,
not to fear anymore,
now rewarded by the God of creation,
healing my painful sore.

Will never forget my darling forever,,
I'm not the same anymore,
It is I, never again to be forgotten,
beauty mine evermore,...

Premium Member Will My Cat Reach Rainbow Bridge
When my well-fed cat dies will he go to heaven?
Will he make it in cat years to fifty-seven?
Or eighty-six or one hundred and five?
Just what is keeping this fat sassy tom alive?
Shark has a kill room around the back.
Has killed varmints from here to Hackensack.
Will he ever reach the Rainbow Bridge?
He annihilated my mean Aunt Midge.
Sure some do not think it was Shark my cat.
But he’s wearing her rings, so what about that?...

Finger Cramp
we heard the wagonwheels
the rattling of the axles
the stinge of the horses
the dust they created
we were unmoved
some became frightened
but most of us knew
what they varmints wanted
we stood back to back to make
 sure they weren't getting it
they wanted our gold
and we weren't gonna let them have it!

Premium Member Surveying the Storm
variety of size, limbs
once helpless in the wind,
a haphazard torrent of leaves.
no pleasantries in rescind.

moss, plush with bouncy roots
tripartite surgery of bark,
sans clean cut.
ground level hallmark

apartments, at close inspection,
varmints inhabit an oak.
how do trees survive the dark
when susceptible to croak?

the yard with all its idiosyncrasies,
a social distancing playground
for a curious player of minecraft —
a five year old’s hardly earthbound.
