Adolph Hitler-- Clerihew 2
Adolph Hitler,
that old unruly tiger,
crawled and begged a Jew at heaven's gate,
the Jew unmercifully replied, "Sorry! too late"

Four White Walls
"Reality" is a terrifying concept.
Unescapable,
It looms unmercifully.

They want us to live there,
Walking around in blind misery,
Breathing in their truths.

But we refuse to comply.
Instead, we dance beautifully,
In the rain of our delusions....

Premium Member Charlie Horse
There once was a feller named Charlie Horse,

Who was unmercifully teased of course.

But he took it all in stride,

         With a modicum of pride,

Damning his zany name 'til he was hoarse!

Betrayed
Happy memories have me grimacing,

Beloved friend I would have given all for,

Unmercifully plunged a stake into my heart,

Relishing my every labored gasp for air,

Replaying each moment of my agony,

Trembling, I mouth the word "why,"

Staring into my horrified eyes, she laughed....

Lost Eyes
Within the haunted depths of your eyes

I see pain, fear and desperstion

uncertainty is printed on your face

trapped in the nightmare of living

searching for a way to escape

finding only locked doors before you

like a butterfly trapped in a glass

you beat yourself unmercifully...

Premium Member Her Name Was Duno
Her name was Duno. She was seventy, young-at-heart, and hilarious.

We were co-Sunday School teachers, and the best of pals. I was twenty-three.

Fast-hurting-cancer smacked her around unmercifully for ten horrible months.

Her-ex husband greeted us at her funeral; a man who had deserted her 50 years before....

Premium Member Just Floating
In my next life I plan to be a hydrozoan.
Living in the water, floating aimlessly.
No thoughts, no feelings.
No muse bugging me with new poetry ideas.
No muse annoying me unmercifully
Screaming in my dreams,
Begging me to get up at 3:21 a.m. to write poems!
Just floating away,
A happy little hydrozoan,
Carefree and silent.
No dreams.
Just floating….....

Leaves of Gold
It idly sat in the sunlight;
A golden adornment for a barren yard,
From which Summer’s war left unmercifully.
As a god does salvage the earth, so did this lone tree,
Birthing from its branches treasures for the eyes to behold.
Yet much unlike an immortal entity,
Such life falters when the spoiled adornments descend to their graves,
And Winter’s pervading air steals an abundance of nature’s most priced artifacts....

Premium Member If We All Had the Same Ideas
If we all had the same ideas,
How boring would life be.
If we all had the same thought,
What would be interesting?

If we all had the same grandchild,
How would we share her?
Would she have to go from house to house,
Spending but fifteen minutes with each of us?

If we all had the same taste in men,
Would we find him and chase him around unmercifully?
If we all had the same religion, and the same politics,
Could we get along?

I doubt it....

Lingering Love On the Wire
Lingering love
Hung on a telephone line
Promises and Moments
Swing like sneakers
Superfluously hanging after the winter

You have been misplaced
Nothing is known
Fate and her heavy fists
have crushed
Taken unmercifully
Leaving life’s taste bland
Like bathwater
I can’t find a comfortable towel
So I sit in here searching
Drenched in my wrinkly soul

Longing for a vibration
To feel our existence
Provide an alternative
To this emotion
I miss you...

Premium Member pink teapot is angry with her
Blue-haired faerie Frisky had fallen into a land of weird.
An angry teapot was the one giant thing she feared.
He was irritated that the dress she wore, washed in Tide
Was the same exact color as his paint on the outside

He yelled at her unmercifully, wanting her to take it off
But she had no other clothes, so she merely scampered off.
His voice followed her all around the place, as did his magic cat.
She was thrilled when she finally woke up on her own bed mat....

Premium Member Dance with Delusions
Dancing with delusions, sparks of hellfire
Course through my lugubrious quill pen.
Distorted words igniting fear,
Anxiety fills crevices,
Encircling, silencing,
Asphyxiating.
Walls closing in,
Compressing.
Hope fades,
Doom.
Dread
Runs cold.
Veins poisoned,
Sanity slips
Unmercifully.
The angels are mimicked.
Light dimming, darkness descends
As demons mingle with the dead.
Apocalyptic skies crack open
To wash away all that you held sacred....
