Four White Walls

"Reality" is a terrifying concept.
Unescapable,
It looms unmercifully.

They want us to live there,
Walking around in blind misery,
Breathing in their truths.

But we refuse to comply.
Instead, we dance beautifully,
In the rain of our delusions.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Molly, your poem "Four White Walls" is a powerful and thought-provoking exploration of reality and illusion. The imagery is striking and evocative, and the tone is both defiant and hopeful. I especially appreciate the way you use the metaphor of "four white walls" to represent the confines of "reality" and the speaker's determination to dance freely in the rain of their delusions.
