Birch

Nostrils flair
As scents waft in
Gasoline
Wet asphalt
Rain pours down
Cars muddle by
I safe in my perch
Safe in my birch
Still unbent by time

Premium Member One Deep Forest Day

One deep forest day God looked down where snowfall lay. Rainbows plucked from sky He unbent. Then through dark trees. . . spears of radiance God sent. For Carolyn Devonshire's Forest Lights Poetry Contest

Willow

The Willow

Rhododendron,
Baobab,
Methuselah.
Steadfast. Unbent. Pliable.
Wind. Water. Fire.
Arrow. Sword. Brick.
Cupid’s missile.
Weeping Willow.
Rigid.
Frigid.
A ladder.
The tower.
Faithless Leap.
The salt water stings.
Weeping Willow.

Musings Reborn

Looking in places
Beyond my discomfort
Searching,
Searching again

For that Poem to tie
All the meanings together
Making sense
Of a rainbow unbent

Giving up to the music
Beyond sight of the flame
Where disorder
Now rules the day

A word becomes fertile
In the womb of my memory
And my musings reborn
  —once again

A Pretty Little Lark

A Pretty little Lark, my Darling was,
Who cheered each one she met -- humble intent!
Whose Way was Love, her Harmony, unbent
By any Path, Belief, Doctrine or Cause

She stilled my heart, the lovely little bird,
By singing children’s songs, and Sunday School
She taught, to bring tykes discipline, Self-Rule
And called it sacred work, to keep one’s word.

Unstrung lover broke her beads. Pearls - black and blue, pure white, cream. A river of wicked deeds would release her unhinged scream. Vertiginous whirlpool’s drunk on All Hallow’s Eve. Unbent string and fine ornaments sunk. Unwound hate and pearls ferment. 10/19/2020 Contest: Impressions Sponsor: Nette OnClaud Visual #1 *to work up (as into a state of agitation)

Dime Bag Days

Take me back to the dime bag days
     when we were hotel hippies,
thirsty for trouble and stuck in a state
     of delirium.

Our souls were scattered messes
     among the unbent hills -
dreaming of rebellion and freedom,
     pockets empty, heart's empty

Having no sense of direction and
craving toxicity like it is a
natural remedy. We were walking
     disasters, baddie two shoes.

Unpredictable

I think the rain has to be my muse.
Sheets of unbent rain does fall.
Threads of silver drifting down,
Flowing through my pen effectively
To quench my poetic thirst through verse

Impressive an unpredictable, it is,
Just like Mother Nature's moods.
It's so romantic and enlightening,
Or so raw and dramatic in it's fury.
The only thing predictable
Is the unpredictability of it's swarths.

No Collusion Or Corruption

No Collusion Or Corruption

Gads. How many times have we heard this now.
Sounds like someone with a persecution complex
and feelings of inferiority to me. Never heard of
any other President ever having this before.

Was no collusion
Or else any obstruction
Trump has committed.

Jim Horn

Russia really fixed us with a lulu
for President. Trump Tower and
Golden Shower. No telling what
else he has done. Sorry. Had to
vent to get unbent so this I sent.

Idle sit the swords in bloodied rust
old glories faded in the long dull blades
lie about cold beauty's savage lives
masked within the scars of victors songs.

Words unbent repent in ploughshare shame
succumb to acquiescent mumbling
rising in the throat of strangled steel
tempered by the stench of battles fear.

Is peace naught but a swords rekindling flame
sharpening both sides of fates cold wand.
