Unnerved

Desires and hopes are strong
When plunging into a task headlong
always fear of failure comes along
Restricting us ,for fulfillment we long.

Fear is a slinking cat Is find beneath the lilacs of my mind.

Dark Anxious Whispers

should joy or gratitude I find
and dance with them in dreams of bliss
dark anxious whispers will remind
that dangers lurk in hiddenness

Beware of Fear

Your dreams can be achieved,
but ambitions are at times deceived
by fear, that like an ophidian rust,
can turn your aspirations into dust

Fear Lurking

The opposite of love is not hate
It is fear of change, difference, or mood
It sidles with a serpentine gait
Hiding, gathering ammo like it’s food..

Fear

Fear lies effortlessly in portending wait to bare the intrinsic risk of chance. View it not just as impending fate nor play its victim by circumstance... 1/10/2019 "Fear is a slinking cat I find between the lilacs of my mind"-Sophie Tunnell

Sophie's Thoughts

Hidden away in the portals of my mind,
Fearful thoughts lift their silver heads,
Peering out in wonder at the ways of mankind,
Happy to stay engulfed by happiness, not dread.

Beauty's Sweet Scent

Fear stalks indiscriminate thoughts camouflaged by beauty's sweet scent. And from safe shadows, schemes and plots, leaving no clue, where the fear went. (Rhyme) "Fear is a slinking cat I find beneath the lilacs of my mind." - Sophie Tunnell 1/20/2019

Brittle - For Explaining Sophie Contest

Brittle.

Composure is a fragile thing
That should allow my heart to sing
So why when all is hearts and kisses
Do I suspect a viper’s hisses

Empathy Plays My Poet's Heart

Empathy plays my poet’s heart
Most of my doubts concealed artfully
Worries play such a minor part,
As my poems are created heart-fully.

Deserving But Failing

An exquisite feminine beauty with overt shyness
Soft body curves with charming face hiding wishes
Lulling secret desires but withholding emotional surge
Delicately weak, can’t boldly meet the masculine urge

The Garden of My Mind

My thoughts exude a sweet perfume
And buds await their chance to bloom.
But down below there lie in wait
Deep weeds which seek to suffocate.

Wisdom a La Sophie

Wisdom à la Sophie ---------------------- Behind calm mind can come a fear, So conquer it, and sprightly. A fear must not despoil your year. Quick, quell it. Live your life quite lightly. 1/2/2019 "Fear is a slinking cat I find beneath the lilacs of my mind." - Sophie Tunnell

Mind's Altitude

life is grand and beautiful
its feast lush and bountiful
the sun offers its caress
why be fearful of success

Lilacs Under Siege

Chameleon eyes of fear pinned beneath her writer's face
is it Sophie's one demise when she writes and doesn't blink
As the fertile seed of doubt arrives like pepper scented mace
fear is the only slinking cat alive beneath her scented ink

Light the Shadow of Fear

LIGHT THE SHADOW OF FEAR
In every blind turn of unsure life dangers creep Their sinister silent shadows slither beneath mind Let the intrepid instinct rise like sun, throw light deep Walk on gleamed garden path, leave chasm of fright behind.

Day and Night

Each morning brings another day to live, fulfill...

the promise of that glowing sun and fresh air scent.

Yet, deep below the hope, it slinks with creepy skill...

the fear of dark and death...life's slithering portent.
