What trace
Of fish madness
Remained
When trout
Leaped
And
Frothed
The water,
Mayflies
Brushed away
In silence.
yet countless times, regardless what the contest is about
against all rationality, a diatribe tossed out
The river runs clear
The snow has gone
The bank behind me
Starts to crack in the sun
I can see the trout
And the trout
Can see me .
a hover of trout
under the arch of the bridge . .
rainbow in the sky

Theme: fish
Crafty ole brown trout
lurks behind that sunken log.
My fly snags a branch.

The patience of the lonesome Fisherman,
Waiting to catch Tommy Trout.
He’ll have to wait a long time though,
Tommy’s not in, he’s gone out!
If ever, you had any doubt
When I fished, I'd not catch me a trout
I've got fine expertise, so pardon me please
While I cast my line out and about
there was a young trout named Dan
who loved to steel bait from the line
one day it was said
a fly hit his head
and Dan became fillets in the pan
The Angry Chef
A seafood chef near the golden gate
Is constantly mean and irate
Punching the trout
Kicking carp all about
Blaming fish for their sorry fate
Caught Cold Trout
Beyond a shadow of a doubt
went fishing to catch some cold trout
I only did caught
a cold and wet dot
along came a real walk of clout

branches hide dark trout
swimming beneath truth of light
floating secret lives
in deep wanton quiet pools
verity lives amongst them

the turtle remarks to the trout
do you want that worm
it would be a nice morsel
replies the trout
but I could take
insects of the surface
you would be too slow
for that, added the trout
that may be true
the turtle replied, and added
but
do either of us
really need that hook
the worm is on
so they left it
for the carp.
she called it love
A cloak against the winds
Of ideath and loneliness
But Brautigan and multi-colored days
Were like a stranger to her
There was never a trout in her
Dreams; nothing as warm as Margaret
Between us
It wasn't love, not like Pauline
Not close or real like the fine
Berries we shared for breakfast.
She called it love but it wasn't
Ben is Australian, a BBQ king,
Burning and scorching meat is just his thing.
He came from Aus some years ago, and met his own lovely English rose.
He still has an accent, but has learnt to call his friends mate, instead of just cobber,
He loves fly fishing because you carry less clobber.
Ben's prefect day would be to catch a trout,
Then BBQ it and share it about
Rainbow trout, rainbow trout so long and stout
Dancing at the end of my curved small hook
So excited I'll jump round and shout
Then for handsome baby Johnny I'll cook
Green-eyed baby Johnny will dine just fine
He will have applesauce on his left side
Hushpuppies fried, grapes from garden's vine
Then slowly to sleepy-land he will glide

For Eve
In the river I saw a little trout
A silver flash amongst river weed.
I watched him swim and dart about
This little fish was fast indeed.
I saw him in shimmering glances
As he shot along the river bed,
Performing his lively dances
Like an arrow, how he sped.
My, this little trout could move
To watch him race it seemed to me,
He was lost in the joy of living.
The joy of being wild, and free.
There are 2 of us on the boat, trying our best to catch a big rainbow trout,
We tried so many flies but none seemed to work, throwing our plans into doubt.
There are wet flies and dry ones, but which one will work best,
So we keep on perservering put each fly to the test.
I tried a dry fly one that was gently floating,
When a trout suddenly grabbed it, a beautiful fish, I looked at my mate but I admit I just couldn't help gloating!
The sun peeks out in a shy way,
Unsure whether the day is to be cool or warm
Pink clouds parade their truth in a dark sky
Appearing fiery as a well stoked campfire
The dock is silent; not a peep.
Fish slumber in cold waters, glad for the silence
My feet seem incredibly loud as I walk the dock
I hear a loud splash and I smile.
A gorgeous day for steelhead trout
They are here for the taking,
I feel we have a communion
My line enters the water smoothly, and I wait.
