It was the first nightmare I had awake
With chills, fear replaced the blood in my veins
I searched for death and through the swiftest means
But death itself did cower so to flee
Far from the fiercest thing mankind had seen.

THE FALL OF THE EMPIRE
The empire of the empyrean
Is swallowing up the remains of our day
While we rebuild our empty sandcastle walls
And outrun the swiftest skylark
In a plunge to the gates already closing out
The dawdling dwindling light.

Happiness does not dwell on flat ground, where ease prevails. It lives on the crests of craggy mountain peaks, in the nooks of valleys secret and green, a mystic shadow, flitting and fleeing at any approach. The path is long, the way is perilous, yet on the summit of a craggy peak is found happiness more sublime than the swiftest flight across flat ground

Death is seldom seen for what it is,
A necessary part of life;
Our appointment waits on the horizon,
And the slower our steps become the nearer it gets;
For as a stream appears swiftest as it forms the rapids,
So is life after passing its prime;
If there is a moral to this, it is,
Don't slow down to look back,
The steps you hear are not bearing gifts!

A passerine bird,
One of the smallest of sizes,
With a beak almost minute.
On its beak you can count many;
the tiniest to biggest,
the slimmest to the fattest,
the lightest to the heaviest,
the ugliest to the finest,
the sourest to the sweetest,
the slowest to the swiftest.
All on this paltry beak,
it houses them all.
And what do you liken this beak to?
A lad's might,it is.

I love my diet, rich in protein,
Of snakes, squirrels, doves, and rabbits most lean.
I tell you this, and I am on the square,
Furry mammals delight beyond compare.
The swiftest, sleekest raptor in the sky,
I soar wide, circling with the sharpest eye.
As feathered death I swooped upon my prey,
But the rat found a hole and got away.
As Taloned Fate I still search and survey,
For careless critters to feast on today.

The rivers flow into the ocean,
With the swiftest movement and motion.
They flow without thinking,
Following the current without thinking.
The journey is long and slow,
But they are persistent in their goal.
The ocean calls out to them all,
Their attention it effortlessly draws.
They flow back to their birthplace,
The one they so much embrace.
We are rivers amongst an ocean of people,
Flowing with life and ending in a dusty hole.
