Now we have been released from the EU, and its cheap cost of living
We are now going British with prices that are more than unforgiving

Life Isn'T Always Fair

Life isn't always fair, things don't always go our way.
Keep a stiff upper lip, tomorrow may be a better day.
Don't give up when things are going bad.
Happy days may be coming and I hate to see you sad.

Ze French, they are haughty
    Kremlinites, vulgar, crude
  Le artiste charcoal sketches
    in the unvarnished nude

Brits keep a stiff upper lip
Pointy-shoed Italians think they are hip
  Ukrainians fight like the dickens
their stockpiles reduced to slim pickens

afterward no talk
you came with your cold collarbone
pushing your own barrow
if it's money you want
why not work the streets
cutting corners won't cut it
in the emotive sphere
relationships won't last
where deception rules
cogs click into one another
up a gear and under a cloud
where the angel dust
lingers on your
stiff upper lip
all that remains is
cold sweat and
afterward no talk.

Old Fred had a kitchen disaster And urgently needed a plaster How his work buddies snicker At the dinosaur sticker A stiff upper lip Fred must master! A factual poem with a little sprinkle of poetic licence... My hubby (he's not called Fred) cut his hand and all I could find in my bag was an old dinosaur plaster and a friend of ours was in hysterics when he saw it 09/12/21

The Caller

After breach in tolerance
one peeled truth becomes incendiary.
Afraid of the known:
pitched against
unknown.

Dying young with stiff upper lip,
the grief,
was not curtained enough.
The malignant spread,
refused to retract a name from the epitaph.

Greed overtook
by calculation,
powerful thrust to run the winds,

the virgin grass will not surrender.
Lethal on the move, a humble shout
was nearer to god.

If every cloud had
a Silver Lining...
If lightning were only
illumination...
and our story together
had a happy ending --
then, I would write,
only Happy Faces.

But, pencil points break

a tear marks a page indelible
will not accept a word, tears
with every new impression
attempted --

I read a poem, a little while ago;
a sad poem...and your memory
returned -- A grave is so damn
insensitive! I know...get over it!
Stiff Upper Lip recalls your tender
moistening.

Stoic

STOIC

Some people describe me as stoical
Stiff upper lip and chin raised, I’d say
Yet take it as it comes – it is the way
I’ve firmly held views, always logical

It’s probably inherited from my parents
I’m imbued with a sense of being strong
Of course, knowing right from wrong
And really about showing forbearance

The lack of anger shown isn’t monotony
Slightly more meaning than just a shrug
But never falling into a hole one has dug
And it can be described as a philosophy
