Among Bethlehem’s crowded dwellings
existed few good hearted innkeepers.
Joseph, knowing lovely Mary needed only privacy,
quietly rented stables
to unfold
Virgin’s wonderful Xmas yield
zealously

Grandpa’s chair still there
though stables are empty now
ghostly echoes of neighing
still hear Gramps praying
“Please, Lord, let me keep my farm”
blessings bestowed on our clan

At North Pole stables, liquid spirit flows
Down the hatch is where the brandy goes!
We bust all the moves
And raise our big hooves
That's why Rudolph has a glowing red nose!

Limerick
Horses are a thing of beauty
Their silky smooth hair and mane
That seems to go against the wind
Making them seem like
A spirit moving
When parting this life
They go to a phenomenon place
That have golden fences
Where they can en-circle themselves
In a land so beautiful and bright
With lots of shiny stables and
An open range so, that
Their souls can roam freely

coca cola recalls
lying in the debts.
of debris carnage befalls
life master pieces tampered with
umbrellas open tossing the wind
abundantly so who are you to say
when it's time to go carry on comrade
the gnomes are leaving you behind
wearing wooden ankles snarling
at truth beckoning sideways within
the harsh stables of callous knees
my soft red hair blowing in the breeze

Blank verse
Dollars don't grow on trees
Spilling secrets saving scenes
Faltering for all the world to see
Uncongenial uncontrollability
sucking life right out of me
Where do simple answers lay
brooding stables they can stay
jumping hurdles as I pray
pressing for another day
feeling sun gods golden ray
pretentious prohibition
losing hope and inhibition
fame costing an exhibition
slowly caught attrition
lost is the attraction

Ode
If you don't learn your times tables,
You may end up cleaning out stables,
Or waiting on tables.
If you are not able to read,
You won't have to worry about greed,
And for Aesop's Fables you won't see the need.
If you never learn to write,
Your mail may be a bit light,
And job opportunities slight.
If we don't give you the opportunity to learn,
So, you can earn,
Building jails, will be what more of us will need to learn.

Though the seagulls be lonely
we must
now quell the thirst
to fly,
ever trust to go within
the stables where halters
hang awry.
The morning mood
is frequently in harm,
though this be so even when
we disarm and will not spoil
and evil glint deny.
The harps are playing
in the sky, and I,
oh I, am weary.
Take me to my tent of rapture;
test my fortitude for
all times which ride
against the sky--
while spent we no more
seek recompense and die.

Free verse
The horse was pale,
paler than the light off the mountain
that reflected back in memories long abandoned
Its mane was long,
longer than the struggle to save what
fortune had vehemently denied me twice
The time was short,
shorter than the flashes of history
that hoofprints trampled in the disappearing snow
The trail was closing,
closing on one last intrepid promise
crying out for life amidst a stampede of death
