Sleep is heavy on a cat.
For once they are still,
Ragdolls in your arms.
Fur mussed like morning hair,
They snuffle as they purr.

Sun bled heavy eyelids
close in mid day glow
bee braises by
dogs snuffle near
cloud clumsy
wind simpers
breathing sweated air
no care

I ache from my nose to my knees;
I sniffle and snuffle and wheeze.
A small tot of rum
might settle my tum,
but what should I take for a sneeze?

Limerick
up on the moors, sweet love
shadows dance at dusk.
low across the purple shades
wild ponies whinny
and snuffle steam into brown grass
while curlews cry the sun to rest.

I.
Human, I am starve.
Please feed me chicken. I love
you. Then ride in car?
II.
It's wag? It's moving?
It's problem. I wish I know
what tail is doing.
III.
You think I'm sooo cute.
I wants you to snuffle me
like I snuffle you.
IV.
I'm big, brave. I bite.
Proteck childrens. Guard house and
keep you safe at night.

The first two months we tromp and plod
Or trudge or slog or shuffle
While bundled up, accompanied
By cough or sneeze or snuffle.
But now the calendar has turned
And so our pace increases.
Think Sousa and start moving with
Your ear turned towards his pieces.
In other words, drop all that starch:
Today begins the month of MARCH!

Stealthily
it comes
in whispers
a smell
a taste
an unexpected view
a draught through a crevice.
In a sneeze or snuffle
it flows
unseen
unheard
yet present.
Silent gentle
an angel’s touch
here now
soon gone.
A ray of light,
a pattern on an icy window pane
illusive but present.
Yet in stillness
we touch it
in the space
within us
around us
in floating cells.
Seek find
touch savor
the miracle that’s you.

PROMOTION (TRI)
Why snuffle for favours like a ferret
However one might seek a raise
The basis of promotion is merit
I guess there may be other ways
However one might seek a raise
A solid performance is the key
For most, a smile is just a fantasy
The basis of promotion is merit
Despite what many others think
One just won’t do it with a wink
I guess there may be other ways
Of all the methods to employ
It’s sucking up that will annoy

Winter babies are carried
in small wombs over stark ground,
they have eyes and mouths by now,
almost human paws.
The snuffle of small rodents
awakens yet more unborn.
Adults still cry in motherless wombs,
struggling to be delivered
from a million cyclic still-births.
A new dawn, like a stripper,
takes off her long black gloves,
arrives in white thighs,
remembers that she also
is a working mother,
the labor of the world
her endless tryst.

Incandescent
She heard that envy was real,
That it was something that people feel,
Waste of an emotion
Her thinking heart said
Like throwing away glitter of your own soul
Why wouldn’t you just want to shine instead
For if it does exist
This thing called envy
Why can it not be made to a lesser degree
Why not let the light that wants to shine
Just be,
For what lid
Can snuffle
A flame that does not wish to burn
Only wants to shine brightly
Deep inside

Carpe Diem
The groundhog is about
she’s fattening up
on hedgerow shadows.
Winter babies are carried
in small wombs over stark ground,
they have eyes and mouths by now,
almost human paws.
The snuffle of small rodents
awakens more as yet unborn.
My own inner child
opens its eyes, calls out once.
From all directions,
brown in-uterine orbs
glance my way.
Dawn, like a stripper,
takes off her long black gloves,
arrives in white thighs,
remembers that she too
is a working mother.
