Candle

A candle shortened by the years,
Its streaks of wax, like beads of tears;
Still burns, but with a timid flame,
The light it sheds, 't is not the same.

Shortened Bridges

There won't be any shortened bridges,Lord
I'll keep on loving him in pain
No more wave riding on endless seas
More of a parched throat love,Lord
That's what it will be

Premium Member Mathematics To Math To Ma To M

Mathematics has been shortened to math.
Magazines are now Zines.
In fifty more years will math be ma?
Will Zines be Zi?
How will we pronounce Zi?
With our without a long I sound?

Modern Time

Nor shortened, nor curtailed
Has ever been;
Of Time, its limit.
What it does permit.

Yet have we normalized
Its acceptance.
That through haste live more.
To stress is life for.

Autumn Mood

Autumn mood
Rustling trees
Leaves of brown
Scattering the streets

Soft melancholy
Lonely cold
Autumn mood
Standing bold

Seasons end
Shortened sun
Autumn mood
Chill mood begins

Premium Member I Finally Write a Serious Poem

I wrote a poem so darn serious
It seemed my readers went delirious
So I shortened her a bit
          Although I have to admit
I rather liked being Miss Tear E. Ous

Crane-Berry

Bitter sweet berry
Metaphor-celebration
Native peoples loss

Bloom like a crane-fowl
Shortened name over time.
Hospitality

Given by native
People, friends, whose strange gods set
Their end destiny

Prey

Biting the lured hook, shortened its long lifespan, look, Fish became a prey .
Form: Haiku

Awakening

A baby cries, an alarm wails,
the dog barks, the ships sails.
Sleep shortened, deprived and broken,
this rude awakening leaves dreams unspoken.
The rest ends, the day begins,
the night loses, the morning wins.

The Tree At the Mall

The tree at the mall is right out front.
3 feet in; 4 feet out.
Been shortened for powerlines
and sparsened for rapists'.
It's branches cut back
where it's taxes placed it.
The tree at the mall is right out front.

An Andromeda Strain For Andrea

An Andromeda Strain for Andrea

Have heard that there is an Andromeda strain,
But being of sense parents had many a grain;
She was laden
With name maiden;
Shortened name to Andrea and it will remain.

Victor is a strong name,
It comes from the word victorious.
Courageous, Brave, Fearless,
Noble and Glorious.

I like the name, Victor,
Not the shortened version Vic
I'm not too fond of this handle
It doesn't fit.

Unraveling

(this actually a rondolet, a shortened form of rondeau)

Unraveling
Stitches from our wedding quilt
Unraveling
Your so-called “business traveling"
Anniversary streamers of guilt
25 years - the life we built
Unraveling

Time

Time -
a high-priced commodity,
leaves us with a shortened
supply of memories
until it's our turn
to pass on.

Death -
the fickle fiend
leaves a gnawing ache
inside our brains,
stinging with hurt until
there's a mountain left of
time.

Perfect Moment

Life is so perfect in this
moment,
I really wanna hold it,
And Never let it go,
Afraid to let them know,
What if something happens,
And our happiness is
shortened,
Life is so perfect in this
moment,
I really wanna hold it,
And never let it go.

Flow of the Eye

Call this a life

									Sat at a screen

				Of life. End.

The younger generation wants to be successful.

Diet Pepsi

actually it's a rondolet, a shortened form of rondeau, but not a seperate category in p.s.

Diet Pepsi
The last drink you afforded me
Diet Pepsi
A silver can, eyeball tempting -
Better than looking at your glee
Strangling me, last image seen

Quonset On a Wooded Edge

While the fields and plains
Prepare for floods
The cold of fall and
Shortened days
I employ my mind to wintery
things
Preparation of a post
autumn gloom

A drizzle of truffle oil
upon the pheasants
enough to cause a
tease
Coupled up with
someone I love
To inspire a sweet
Romance

Birds

Birds

Birds should be
up to date with
sky traffic in the
foreign countries they’re visiting. ‘Send to
all nests copies, not ones that’ve
been shortened, parts removed – ASAP,’ one
bird should
spread. Also, injured in
the air birds have had
all the time to
make parachutes.
