The festivities
The nauseous time of year
When booze is handy
Sentimentality
Silly hats doesn`t touch me
Safe inside a fog of disbelief

Sentimentality
...is the word
I was trying to think of,
But trying to avoid.
Is that Pride?
***
Selfish Pride?

In rivers of tears
a joy of having found you,
with words so sublime
such sentimentality
formatted in one’s own truth...
In your story i see you!

and dancing to the edge
again and again,
we watch with wonder
his startling grace
the profound
sentimentality,
an almost common man
balanced on a unicyle
juggling humor,
and humanity.

Sometimes singing romance

Love should have its place among
those virtues that humans value,
but perfidious dudes scoff at
sentimentality!
What's the irony in this....
is it me that idiot
who shows his full devotion
by being faithful?

reaching new heights

Sentimentality -
the word leers in your ear-hole,
stupid and vain,
to rush sense away
Sentimentality -
the word veers towards vomit.

All this sentimentality.
A sign I'm getting on?
Or have I always been that way?
Getting on, I mean.
I cursed like an old bar keep
when I was only five.
Killed my first bear
when I was only three.
Or so they tell me.
Seems even then my memory
wasn't what it used to be.
Excuse me my sentimentality.

True feelings concealed craftily
beneath the saccharine sheathe,
toxic fantasy of self items fostered
by the colors of chameleon skin.
Sprawling spurious emotions,
pretentiously paraded skillfully,
away from the edge of reason,
epitomize the camouflaged ego.

a hardening mangosteen
with wounded white seeds
increasing into rotten arrogance
of monstrous' velocity
sentimentality-
rises slowly to the skin
emitting cerebral poison
flavored with the sourest
and most bitter condiments
as troubled being
devours senseless hurt
sentimentality’s lava
flows drifting soul into sin

Holding on to past flames
like hate for an enemy
Drowning in what was said
more clingy to what was felt
You
the starring of my dreams
the best nightmare
and still I am
dedicating my heart to you
I bleed through my pages
In my thoughts of you
whilst you give love
to lovers more deserving
and less to my own
Damned I am
Stupid in mind
Wishful
to still call you
mine
First, an uneasy silence,
then a definite maybe;
I hope it's just tipping
the first domino for me;
perhaps I misunderstand,
so I won't miscalculate;
she might not give her hand,
but then it might be too late;
feeling ridiculous and silly,
I fight off this stupid anxiety,
but I'm a mismatch against
old-fashioned sentimentality!
Dusty Dreams
I lay here on the desk pondering my worth
nearby stark white pages slowly yellow.
I am but an instrument to fulfill their need
yet stoic in my sentimentality. Dust
counts the weaving of nights into days
measures the shadows of a silenced muse
as we sit idle in the hope of its awakening.

Haiku and more
Soothing rain on slates
Heal nerves torn to tatters
By unforgiving life
Haiku
Rain is decanting
A transparent carpet of silk
Untouchable beauty
Haiku
Rain chased by gust
A mad dance around corners
A day fit for heroes
The festivities
The nauseous time of year
When booze is handy
Sentimentality
Silly hats doesn`t touch me
Safe inside a fog of disbelief
The mind is hastened forth by
By the redolent sentimentality
Of the idea of heart,
While the soul languishes
Within the detritus of society
And every mention of God
Flows freely as vomit
Out from the guts of pontifs
Expousing the virtue of
Their enlightened experiences
In the trenches of the common wealth,
And devouring their own ability
To know you and me.
Take it away from them!
Give it to us!

For a second, my thoughts wonder
And this heart
Feels like its stopped beating
I'm under water
Struggling for breath
Who will occupy me
I'm falling
There is an ache, growing
A hollow tree
In a prosperous garden
Ive so much to say
But id rather not
Who wants to talk
If they've lost
Sentimentality is a foe
Playing violins
To imperfect moments
Making one final touch
The impossible desire
That chokes me
For the aftermath
Form:
Boo, hiss, spare me the phony sentimentality
Like you really think anyone gives a damn,
And, while you’re at it I say, sarcastically,
Get your side-glancing, eye-rolling response
Nothing so disgusts me as false gooeyness
That syrupy froth that freezes on demand,
Accompanied by raw, unbridled saccharinity
Just one touch of your pure, unavoidable grace.

Sentimentality
Most curious
duality ... this
Sentimentality
Excessive tenderness,
sadness, nostalgia
corrupting modality,
distorting reality's
social edifice
Brain-cramping
contortion,
fierce pressure
building,
Sentimentality
wielding an
assault on
humanity!
Liars lie with
impunity
Childhood
lessons lost
Darkness
perverting civility
Root of irrational passions,
misplaced idealism—
This insidious,
ever-swelling
tsunami of
Sentimentality
I dream of the Ganges, and her gentle cleansing flow…and the Island Spirit with palm trees swaying, egrets on salty air, hula hips at moonrise and exotic mai tais. Motherhood, caves and caverns, enchanted forests. I latch onto her adventurous flora of fantasy and sentimentality. Riveting reverberations of a souper poet, Connie Marcum Wong, a kindred spirit.
