Ruthie's Gift -- By Kimberly Brubaker Bradley

Can't say I found the ending
unpredictable or surprising...
Nonetheless my heart was touched
by their self-sacrificing

Kindness,Goodness,Faith, Mildness

Kindness,
is what you do, when you perceive,
that someone has a problem,
or special need.

Goodness,
is a quality that inspires the rest,
to be self-sacrificing, and,
to do their very best.

Faith,
is needed to please God well,
when you have it, he can tell.

Mildness,
conquers rage,
calms it down in every stage,
helps you to turn the page.

Your Disfigured Ode

mother
here no longer
but forever judged
you were everything
the self-sacrificing
source of all love and comfort

and all rage and rejection
you made me
and i am somehow part of you
and i was your mirror
showing what you did not want to see
weakness, neediness
the object of your shame and self-loathing

now
(just like me)
instead of producing a bouquet of roses
I disfigure this ode to motherhood

My Belief Is True Love Is Unconditional

My belief is true love is unconditional -
totally accepting,
forgiving,
supportive,
encouraging and empathetic -
it is boundless,
lacking ego and willingly self-sacrificing.
it is an oasis in a desert of emotion,
a haven of peace in a tempest of wrong decisions,
an embrace of infusing strength at all times,
arms always lifting you up,
prayers of protection every time you're out of sight,
prayers of thanksgiving when you return.

Questions

Deeper than a feeling a question resonates within.
The thought of where the start of self sacrificing
all begins.

From the heart, where all parts of love is shown?
From the mind, where thoughtfulness is grown?
From the touch, we share each and every day?
From the passion, we share in love, work or play?

Growing ever tired, old and now slow as time passes by
this question I need an answer for.
Did anyone ever achieve from it and could have I given
more?

She Stares

When she takes breath
And fuels her self sacrificing flames,
Her carbon-dioxide – translucent rays
Cascade through oxygen, scorching
The atoms, weighing them down
Until they smash into the dirt,
Blowing up a tiny fuss, a radius
Of crimson scars.

Not content she licks my arms and face,
Leaves a trail, attracting to her stare
She is no fool and cannot be distracted
By factor thirty.
She dances with the wrinkles on my skin,
Licks me harder,
Strips me bare.
