Premium Member Self Awareness

My heart is too frequently engaged
In pursuits of the most frivolous kind,
Sometimes it runs away with itself
Leaves my mind lagging far behind.

written June 18, 2021

Denial

when light fractures into noise…

I embrace the outburst
with emptiness chewing up my nerves.

The void softens the impact—

can’t break what never arrived.

Epigram Five

Epigram 5

 Self-awareness must not be confused
With self-consciousness which can be
Devastating for people with fragile egos
You cannot be as good as your inner self.
Form: Epigram

To Know, Therefore

Self awareness,
freedom’s chain

Mirrored judgment,
harbored pain

Descarte’s premise,
inside out

To know oneself
—eternal doubt

Me

I am awful person
with a great sense of self awareness
I am a good person
who hurts the ones I love
I love the ones who don't deserve it
The ones who deserve my love get the back of my head.

Natural Order of Things

First rhythm to the beat:
Being honest
Next guest of honour:
Purpose
Following the morning after:
Self-awareness and courage
Break for freedom:
The musician strikes a cord

And echoes the universe it's glorious Love song

To Brave the Pen

What you don't know about writing
is that it doesn't know you,
until the two of you are willing
to stew a mess of your own -
brewing your blood's greatest enigmas
right down to its own bone marrow -
why not say hello,
at least?

Premium Member In Angry Protest

Self-mutilation a crushing despair
Helpless rage, no solace anywhere

Inner directed emotional surge
Urgent outlet, implosive urge

With self-awareness to your own self be true
Project not unto others what's shameful in you

Doublecross

The paradox
of self-awareness
near and yet so far

Looking out
to see within
imploding like a star

The door that enters
exits free
its threshold bright then dim

Allowing what
the psyche fears
—to pass both out and in

Came into being,
Achieved self-awareness;
Wondered if it was worth it.

Note To Self

Self help does not always help self,
Self indulgence could be hazardous to self,
Self advertising can create ego too big for self.

Self awareness comes before improving one self,
Self diagnosis does not make a happy self,
Self doubt is no excuse for isolating one self.
Form: Burlesque

Greater Self Awareness

it´s only
a hop, skip,
and a jump
away from
a greater state of
self awareness
which leads to
self betterment
which causes
a peace of mind
that once was
non existent
within the self
that is now growing
ever stronger within
the present version
of reality

Higher Bred

Language builds a place to stand,
inside our own cognition

Each word confirms what thought instills,
in psychic recognition

Are you the true informant,
about what’s inside your head

1st person self awareness frees
—a nature higher bred

deep within us is the truth
answers to eternity
subtle simmering poetry
steam from bubbles lovingly

buried voices whisper all
fervent honeyed depths
warmth against glowing flesh
key to self-awareness

enlightened minds soar in air
gaze upon infinity
word of God, they may be
that poems are divinity

Tinted Window

His poems were about racism.
About the white man who wouldn't hire him
because he was a “dirty Mexican.”
My mind shivered in disgust.

In the end he said, “…and I thank my wife…”
He spotted her in the audience, nodded, and
	smiled lovingly.
I immediately turned to look for the Hispanic
	woman in the crowd.

Excursion Within the Self

starting a journey
within the self
embarking on an
excursion into the soul
taking an outing
into the unknown
pack a picnic lunch
full of questions
that need answers
that hopefully will
be found on the way
to self awareness
once this field trip of
the present self
has come to it's conclusion
on the other
side of reality

Under the Chestnut Tree

And here I am under your majestic embrace
Giving into what your nature shares
Wondering why you need those spiky pods
Is it to protect what you treasure most?
When autumn comes you then let it go.

I too have my spiky pods
Holding on, not wanting to let go.
Keeping safe my inner soul.
As the leaves changes I hold my breath
And realise that I am autumn past.

Premium Member If Only I Knew

Wasted years of not knowing

That just being me was enough

Inadequacy pumped through my veins

Never knew of self love

Feelings of inferiority

Little confidence or self worth

Failed before l even started

Never experienced true inner mirth

It took years, maturity ,self awareness

To open my eyes and see

l was worthy and entirely enough

Just being me …..

Dumped

At the city dump discarded parts of the once needed
will forever speak to our lack of self-awareness

A turned over land is built on artifacts
the future will have no name for

Plastic trees will thrive between disposable bones
We will be put away beneath our own food mountains

The land will-fill it will remember nothing gotten
or worshiped at that sacred site we once knew as Walmart

Adam was content to stay where flowers bloomed every day. And for an infinite span, God sated the soul of Man. Yet Man lacked self-awareness, and God saw that unfairness. A woman's daring was sought to give Man free will of thought. So Eve gave birth to reason; and thought came into season. Though Man found sin in her deed, thanks to Eve, His soul was freed.
