Temporary Renters
Precious memories
Angry tears
Hurting heart
Hidden fears
Lonely nights
Hectic days
Blinding headache
My mind strays
Unwanted soul
Trapped alone
Emptiness inside
Never shown
Happiness replaced
Sadness enters
Hopelessness lives
Temporary renters...

Forbidden Gates
Forbidden Gates
Written: By Tom Wright
January 2015
Some days our thoughts
Want to digress,
And we stand at gates
Long ago forbidden,
Lurking beyond,
Things that oft distress,
Affairs of life
That past keeps hidden.
Thoughts don’t own us, or we them,
We’re all just renters.

Hotel Alley
Skid row bums
Dress for no occasion,
Refuse raiders
Need no reservations.
Drug-addicted tenants
Beg for coins and candy,
Deadbeat derelicts
Reside at Hotel Alley.
Gutter renters
Lounge against brick walls,
Vagrant paupers
Rise to no wake-up calls.
Psychotic transients
Cruise dim lit corners
Wayward sons
Fight without honor....

Memory In Black and White
Palm trees and ocean breeze heavenly received by this pasty white
northern teen. On the drive to grandma's snowbird roost she points
out a black family; "they must be renters, blacks are only here during
the week to work".
road to Disneyworld
lined with tin and waste wood shacks
short of dreams come true

A Text From Ukraine - Feb 28, 2022
87 residential buildings destroyed in Kharkiv last night
5,000+ displaced renters in the most dire of plights
Yet Putin and Russia they so intensely despise
Uncommon determination resounds in their cries
____________________________________________
My wife's former apartment building was one of the 87.
We watched it get bombed and utterly destroyed last
night. Can you imagine the hell that's playing out in
Kharkiv now?!...

Crazy Heart
It's a sorry mind
That falls from the sky
Upside down and half blind,
Bleary eyes tell tears
Not where to go but why,
How they came to be here.
Being from a rental shelter,
Habitations made with cubes
All stacked row by row renters.
City domiciles duplex'd forever
Subsisting children excepted groups
But for the rarest, be severed.
So forgive my crazy sided heart,
It's not for less than want of love
That serious gift not all are given a part....
