Pisces vacation...
muscles melting in the sun
waves cradle gently
bodiless, only the now
Mother Ocean rocks her child
After their patriarch died,
sea witches circled the night.
Those left behind clung to hope
on a raft made of his bones,
until sharkness devoured the light.
Taking my dogs on a raft trip to North Missouri,
Solomon, Jasper, Jetsam and baby Madame Curie,
None of us are swimmers, but there is no real worry.
We float along in peace, none of us in any kind of hurry.
Deflated Raft 1 and 2 – Haiku
Deflated Raft 1
air depleted, sigh
rubber flat, spinning chaos
raft takes on water
Deflated Raft 2
floats on cold water
flat, under maelstroms great weight
watch the raft turn, sink
I’ve seen the sphinx and pyramids
Climbed Kilimanjaro and Everest
Crossed the ocean in a raft, I did
So, which thrill was the best…
Lest you think I notch my belt
with each of these conquests
Sabbath meals with my family
are where I’m truly blessed
All of us without exception laughed:
On the Pacific Ocean a raft!
Why would one big waters dare with craft
And hope to make it without witchcraft?
All the big lips in the small room laughed:
One saw a snake's fangs and cold beer quaffed!
A nice tale but the teller just daft,
My cash not leaving my pocket's baft.
Ellen's Raft
We sit above the darkened sea
A bench, my thoughts, and lonely me
Black waves rise igniting fear
And crash against my concrete pier
The mindful storm tears at me
No moon, no stars, just my sea
White caps pushed to meet the sky
Higher and higher the waves try
Rescue her from that storm
Deliver her dry and warm
Floating On A Raft
Floating on a rickety old raft
The water flows around me
Silently it creates small eddies
The water reflects the trees on the shore
Such peace only miles from the city
Could this be the Eden God promised?
If it is I never want to leave
Let the city go on its hectic way
Please allow them to die at their own pace
I just want to float here on my raft
Looking at the sky and dreaming
I don't want to go back
A woman went walking
On the river trail
On a sunny day
Someone went rafting
Along a river
When she got closer
On the river trail
She noticed a raft
The raft was floating
No was on it
She thought it was strange
That no one was there
She looked all around
To see anyone
On the ground or hurt
There was no one there
She pondered a thought
Maybe someone drowned
Yet she thought
Maybe they got saved
A fog moved in as we floated on a raft in the middle of a licorice ocean
and friends began dropping off into the sea swimming towards land I could not see and I wanted to go with them but I was afraid and then I tried but something held me back and plunged me from the raft onto the bottom of the ocean were I stayed for awhile drowning until a molasses fog wrapped itself round me and we floated slowly to the surface huddled together mourning, waiting for morning to come.
