That evening trending grayer than the rest
He'd set out for the shore line's last request
Pre-cancer no one ever called him quitter
Prime of Life arrived melanoma bitter
Life flows in cyclical rhythm
biorhythm
cycles of change
time rearrange
In prime of life what shall we choose?
Wear the best shoes?
Pies in the skies?
Wide open eyes!
Accepting that I'm getting old
my thoughts turn bold
less compromise
I'm in my eyes
She was so young
And in the prime of life
I miss her every day
Much more than she ever thought I would
While I took for granted
We’d never run out of tomorrows
Life got busy
The lord came to take her away
No possibility of second chances
How I ache for just one more yesterday

a first sip of miso soup
exotic and warm
forging a downward path
flowing like a life force
transporting me
as I close my eyes
to a timeless moment
sharing with countless kin
through the ages
young and old
some in the prime of life
some near their final breath
the sum of their days
deep in their heart

Mirror, mirror on the wall
in front of you I stand tall,
evergreen with virgin air,
confident without a care.
In prime of life and freshness,
in state of juvenescence.
I look at my reflection,
my body such perfection.
I'm a mirror in the hall,
tall as hung upon this wall,
show only what's true and fair
self-importance I don't share.
With this ego you possess
I don't see your youthfulness,
disrobing your pretension
reveals your true reflection.
"Petal nor thorn could save this rose."
From "Flowers...Beautiful Flowers"
This line personifies the loss of life and the harvest of flowers (roses) for a funeral. Just as loved ones are lost each day in the prime of life (any time really), the rose is taken in the height of beauty and placed atop the grave. This is in spite of the thorns which protect it. We possess the attributes of the rose as well. Yet, still we pass, regardless of benevolence or wickedness.
