A quiver of wild dogs’ tails tufted 
                               White pompoms thrill in bloodied air
                                      Below, hapless prey prays

I don't like poodles when they're shorn
They should stay as they were born
Not with pompoms on tail and crown
This really gets these canines down
Then they're primped up to be on show
They even have to wear a bow
Oh No!

Clouds, fluffy, white  cotton gaseous
Floating in the sea air
cottony blue sea Full of snowy peaks.
Soft whiteness in heavenly sky
white to white in bluish azure...!

“Woe is me,” when football season closes
Crimson Tide lost in a sea of roses
     Tampa Bucs, Tide, Seminoles
     To “off” my remote just strolls
I’ll use TM for football osmosis

My Coach Bowden-signed football is glass-encased
How do I endure the trauma I’ve faced?
     With my pompoms cast aside
     “Six-month drought!” I cried
“It would hurt less to have my face replaced.”

Deep purple dahlias   -   plush garden zen
steeps in the moonlight hours. Zappiest buds
sleep in their flower beds - beautiful dreams.
Keep of dazzling pompoms - perpetual studs.

Blaze of royal beauty   ~   reign of kindness.
Praise of   Queen of Autumn   in twilight’s dim.
Sways, the ornamental puffs, sowed in dirt.
Daze of youth plucking stem. Love’s princely whim.

NATURE’S CHEERLEADERS

P~erennial pops, flower balls 
O~f delectable colors.
M~ums amazing appeal

red chrysanthemums
like a rubefacient kiss
passion enfolds thee

misty lemon mum
is watered with my sorrow
clings to yesterday

white wears faithfulness
and beautiful as a bride
snow clings to husband

P~etals, appear as pompoms
O~f nature’s cheerleaders.
M~omentous hallelujah for God.
