Cheeks: apple skin shined
Hair: flaxen golden threaded
Lips: petulant pout
Eyes: dark sea currents whetted
Date: Circa 1903.
I see that your side of our closet
has gone blank.
And I,
I do not know
what to do with these walls
full of our photographs.
In the eye’s corner
Fluttering in photographs
Psychopomps gather
Watching for the autumn’s fall
Listening to poetry

She smiles as she looks at her photographs
and she isn't alone now,
as she lives in the past

Poet's Notes:
Photographs in the mind!
A photograph?
Is that all?
A piece of glossy paper!
A photograph!
That is you!
A piece of glossy paper?
Really you?
You?
You?

Family albums:
photographs that tell
different stories
from the lives we're living.
Old secrets frozen in time...
history in a flash...
mystery around the edges.
Poor Dan is in a droop... it wouldn't stand up.
Took a few colored photographs closeup.
Mad? Am I madam.
No, I'm Don Adam.
Holding up with Viagra, it erupts.
Frozen in Photographs
Heaven wind calls
Cheery blooms near
Bench feels like home
Your kiss is warm
We smile at photographs and spring that never leaves
Passing by the midnight gloom
Daylight had breathed its last breath
Memories are photographs
Dawn of the sunset began
Postponed by the autumn moon
Imagine lover's lane strolls
Phlox of purple field, Bill's
photographing hidden
Phoebe, favorite bird.
Phased by nothing else, like
Pheasant flying up, he
photographs Phoebes. Next
Phalaropes, wading birds.
daily I take photographs
of kitchen messes and
living room piles
papers books, vegetables, boxes
shadows light
outside
heads bent to work and raised to pray
all of this
slipping away
Who is this person who observes?
Familiar, from old photographs
the similarity unnerves:
I laugh the way he also laughs.
Eyes close, the image disappears,
as does my father, and my fears.
spent my life taking
photographs of her
in my world of shame
every motion made
was sensual and
deserving an Angelic frame
she now has gone
into the black and white
of which she came
Faded photographs
Recall past celebrations,
Moments caught in time.
Thankfully we remember
Loved ones gone to heaven's home.

in sepia waves,
echoes of laughter linger
time’s tide pulls me back
faded photographs,
memories in sepia sea
love captured in light

Until Next Time
You were in my dreams last night--
you are sometimes
after seeing old photographs
and movies.
You were in my dreams last night--
I want the dream
to linger all the days and nights
you did not.
Comes like a wave that I can't break,
the memories are flooding back.
I sit and flick through photographs
inside a little brown book.
Black ribbon that you tied was like a sign
of darkness that would bind us.
Nine photos from forgotten shoebox
Eight photographs, corners mitered
Seven pressed blooms, scent long fled
Six shades of washi tape
Five faded tickets
Four Polaroids
Three smudged dates
Two hands

Photographs.
Shaking with
such fervor.
Suited, chilled
Bony.
Wetness contributes
to an anthem of
generational collisions.
Pebbles, sounds
of droplets
if you approach
the bench,
uncovered.
