On Christmas Eve

    The fireplace glows, metallic papered
    covered gifts await.
Our loving relatives, coming in, through
    our sparkling, lighted gate!

Slow Dancing Shadows
Secret kisses smile...
shadows behind rice papered walls,
slow deliberate steps shuffle
upon tatami reed mats that rise and fall,
steamy scents and moans are muffled
as the midnight dance, knows no miles......

Pride of Place - Piano
Four-legged guard patrols the papered wall,
Stood by whispering windowpane wind drawls
She is grand, grandiose hardwood keys small
And all across the lounge room rug, she sprawls.
Four-legged guard waltzes to the evening ball.
She dances in her homestead in A minor calls,
The acoustic pride echoes bold and tall
And the chorus chords charms the hall....

Re-Armored
Worry and strife
  never really leave

They just change
  direction and form

When one plant’s watered
   another wilts

Your heart no longer safe
   once torn

Trouble that’s papered
  over with wealth

Set fire
  by money and fame

Is a sadness you try
  so hard to lose

Hiding re-armored
  —and waits to reclaim

Nature's Design
A cozy place you will find, nestled on a sandy shore. Dragonflies at sunset explore, scents of iris and pine make my senses soar. Who knows what is in store with nature's design. Moss and rock create the floor, walls papered with forest and sky, a ceiling of moon and stars miles high. Niether windows nor door. Yet who could ask for more, when the wolf's lone cry, resounds nature's design.

She returns my gaze when I'm too restless to sleep
a lustrous pearl mounted, deep set in a sapphire sky
I lie awake in my room, papered in spider spun silk
Slumber is allusive to us tonight; the moon and I

I wonder what thoughts she holds in her heart
Surely not man's doctrine of trivial pragmatism
Not by the one who rules the tide's ebb and flow
Her mellow glow is a healing ointment of chrism...

Rosettas
Nothing is left of love
but soft slopes of sand –-
sea shard curves
of ancient offered flesh..

We hold life’s
brief possessions
in brindled hands—
cheeks ripe roseate
above painted
porcelain lips.

Faded farm women
gaze on roseolas of prairie—
sepia skims
of faith’s watermarks
held up to light
and frenzied time
amid salmon stains—
papered moth wing eyelids
flickering madly
under thin Rosetta stones
of sun....

Premium Member A Philosophic Age
The philosophy of philosophy
is a philosophic probe
not well lubed and often painful
as the followers grow old
crumbled bits of papered truth
lost within their souls
begging for a second chance
to somehow be made whole.
A truth that was a truth
but isn’t anymore
how did it go from iron clad
to whispered doubts galore
how did a bottled letter
ever reach its barren shore
to tell each foaming grain of sand
it’s philosophical no more
