Premium Member Complexity Obligate Path To Simplicity
Simple is the crux of good design
Yet complexity is the path
One must follow to start with.
Only then is revealed
How to simplify,
Stripping away
The padding
To gist,
Crux

Dream Shapes
Cats sleep curled around themselves. Dogs may sleep on their backs, paws softly padding the air. People sleep like children, their timeless dreams revealing when they were born and when they will die.

Inevitable Bear
Oh lonely Inevitable Bear,
Padding claws, death in white
Sorrow in recurring nightmare
Instinct’s test; fight or flight?

Camouflage against the fence,
A challenge; my subconscious fear
Ominous slowly moving silence,
“Let me in, there’s a bear out here!”...

Blue Sky
Blue sky , Summer sun
Soft moist air , fresh from meadows fair
Towering black clouds, gathering in crowds
Sheets of grey , torrential rains
Soft padding feet , water flooding the streets
Water, Earth and sky , a natural high
Summertime sun , summertime fun...

Black As Night
Listen to poem:
Superstition sizzles;
Black cat on the prowl
Shutters swiftly close as
Wind begins to howl.

Padding down the alley
At the dead of night
Slinking round the corner
Poised to give a fright.

Blending into darkness
But for emerald eyes
Black cat wears the perfect
Halloween disguise.

Premium Member Old Hunting Dog
In the crisp days of autumn
hot breezes mute his distant bark:
the happy wanderer's song sung
from his old canine heart.

The autumn hunt is on. He'll be
padding his way back to me
with a drowned duck in his strong
jaws--or, maybe not.

His eyes moist with vitality
will greet me from his trail. Add
more to this great joy--I'll see
the wagging of his tail....

In-Dwelt
The apartment leaks footsteps,
it’s hard to avoid their featherweight padding.

Fabric and pith teach
walls how to speak;
fragmented recordings
that always threaten to utter
something intelligible.

Ears question,
closed eyes grope for answers.

They abide --- the indwellers,

they nightly rearrange,
whatever you thought was yours
as you daydream of being real....

Premium Member Snowfall
Falling, swirling, drifting down,
softly padding to the ground,
gently settling all around,
hushing, hushing every sound.

Piling, rising, mounding deep,
leveling burrows, sloping steep,
wrapping nature in her sheath,
quieting, stilling life beneath.

Gentle whisper, everywhere,
breath of heaven, angel's prayer,
quietly resting on the trees,
bringing nature to her knees....

The Indwellers
The apartment leaks footsteps.
Ghosts avoid their featherlight padding.

They dwell in the fabric and pith,
teaching the walls to speak;
fragmented recordings
always threatening to utter
something intelligible.

Who are they, what are they?
Such questions
only arise under closed eyes.

They abide

they arrange and restore
whatever you thought was yours
as you dream of being real....

No Escape
The padding of my feet on the road that is my mind

I continue the attempt to outrun my problems

However the shadow that is them catches up to me

Harder and harder is it to escape these demons

I'm being sucked in to a mental dungeon

I need a release

Blood rushes to my head and I become dizzy

There is no place to go now

We've hit a dead end

Here it comes......

There's no turning back now...

Sailing
He's like a ship I keep trying to sail-
across an ocean that soaks me in fear.

Holding my fear in his hands,
as if his hands were my fear.

Stepping in front of me like a shield,
pressing back the waves so my skin could dry.

Never wrapping his lips over the sharp points with a kiss,
as if it were all the padding I needed.

Instead, he lines our shoulders, side by side.
So our feet face the same direction.

His hands set sail
without keeping me....

Premium Member All Is Not Poetry
All is not poetry, I tell myself:
then relapse into rhyme
without reason—season
outside of season; for again
I imagine blossoms in winter,
snow that is warmly cold,
nuggets of 24k caresses
gems of crystal fire--

In my heart, for the umpteenth time,
I am a bedazzled knight
and prominent king--
My personal war of roses
and rainbows;
for while many may condemn me
to a cell of practical padding
I think God and the angels
at their best
are crazy in kind…....
