I was told to "Pack it in."

"No!" I am not a quitter.

I never give up until I win.

Pack it in

As emotions rush,
tears of anguish will flood,
Until you pack it in aces,
of yesterday's ecstatic moments.

Working Man

This man cannot grasp
His task at hand.

With fervor he tries
Diligently.

Trying, working, his
Sweat soaks his brow.

It is getting dark.
What will he do?

He tries to finish
But, can’t get it.

The Sun sets, time runs
Out, defeated.

Time to pack it in.
He bows his head.

With a last big sigh,
He lays to rest.

Maybe next time, he
Thinks to himself.

Dig This Baby

You think I look pretty good
But you don’t know me at all
It would appear that I have it together
But dig this baby I’m not done yet

Who would have thought
That I would be here now
I can’t explain it at all
So why do I even bother

Others will have it all together
And I envy them so
Pack it in and start again, you say
When will it be my turn to take a bow.

Working Man - Revised

This man cannot grasp
His task at hand.
With fervor he tries
Diligently.
Trying, working, his
Sweat soaks his brow.
It is getting dark.
What will he do?
He tries to finish
But, can’t get it.
The sun sets, time runs
Out, defeated.
Time to pack it in.
He bows his head.
Maybe next time, he
Thinks to himself.
With a last big sigh,
He lays to rest.
For soon the morning
Breathes new attempts.

Things She Could Have Said

Give it all to me;
every last ill word
and every/
aching creature
in your heart
that's ever stirred

Give me all your sadness
your deepest depths
of endlessness
and ever jagged corner
you no longer wish to feel

Then bring me that old cage
with the broken lock
and spinning wheel

Bottle every ounce of pain
left spinning around-
inside our head;
pack it in-
an abandoned box...

Labeled things she could have said

Slightly Fat

I heard about a study
Which had proof that where it’s at,
In terms of living longest,
Is to be just slightly fat.

When one weighs sixty pounds too much,
That person is obese.
The chances of a lengthy life
Have started to decrease.

But someone who is overweight
By up to thirty pounds
May outlive all the skinny folk,
As crazy as it sounds.

There’s cause for celebration
For the chubby and the plump;
And dieters may pack it in,
For science holds the trump!

Premium Member How Much Sugar

In your coffee and your tea,
how much sugar do you take?
You have enough I see
to bake yourself a cake.

What I have noticed as of late,
you pack it in quite easily.
That’s a lot of carbohydrate.
Do you add it for the energy?

What about the taste?
Isn’t it way too sweet?
It almost seems a waste.
That excess you should delete.

You are worried about your weight.
Here is one thing you should do:
Reduce intake of carbohydrate,
and your worry will be through.
