Cyber Cafe
In the corner of Cyber cafe
Bloodshot eyes stare into the abyss
Web connected
And disconnected from society
He never sleeps
Lost in the glare of the screen.

All night, blue light and shadows
He lives in the game
Lives off sugar and aspartame
Overdosed on chemicals
He escapes the horror of the world outside
Through the horror in the machine...

Premium Member The Reunion
Gently cries the child
Into the night
Listening for that soothing voice
Just a loves throw away
But mum’s not listening
Mum’s overdosed
Sinking deeper into a toxic haze
Eventually dying with the needle pointing heaven bound
Gently cries the child
Into the night
Listening for that soothing voice
Just a loves throw away
Mummy’s calling to you
Not be long now precious
Not be long....

Premium Member Kryptonite
Sometimes I feel like Superman
After bathing in Kryptonite;
I know that I have super powers
But nothing turns out for me just right.

I should be faster than a bullet
And see through walls with my sight;
But my vision is all blurry
And I’m slowed by Kryptonite.

I would like you to be my Lois Lane
And stare at my “S” in shapely tights;
But I feel more like a weak Clark Kent
Overdosed on Kryptonite....

Let's Fast
Enough of careless mum,
Enough of unsighted, brutal pun,
Enough of our stomachs full of patience,
Are we not yet done gulping overdosed silence?
We have belched out ignorance,
We have digested even disgrace.
Now our appetite is full... with frustration, with anger.
At least now let's wash our corrupted hands,
Let's tidy up our democratic apparels,
Let's stand straight with broken dignity,
Let's not eat more shame,
Let's fast....

Walter took his life when he could not cope

With addiction and overdosed on pain

He tried very hard but then lost all hope

Found it too hard to control and abstain

Ralph medicated depression in vain

The rope's noose disobeyed his last command

His sadness was deep and mania grand

The bullet left just a brain bloody fame

As courage granted an ultimate stand

Too close for comfort as we were the same

Premium Member My Cousin Is Gone Gone
My fifteen-year-old cousin is gone.
I thought they meant she had run away.
She was gone gone.
Deceased. She had overdosed.
My only family member on drugs.
There was lots of wailing and crying.
Grandma was inconsolable.
Much blaming. Her mom’s fault. Her dad’s fault.
No one said it was her fault. She was a saint the instant she died.
I stayed out of all the blaming.
I saw my cousin last night in a dream.
She was running toward Jesus.
He had his arms stretched out in welcome....
