Stripped of his future,
outrunning his past
The doors locked within him
—first to the last

YOUTH
at play
active fun
tarmacs chockablock
trikes, bikes, yikes, falling down
shed cheap tears and leapt afresh
"outrunning the sky's purple haze"

Outrunning his destiny
fate to rescind
chance in the rearview
reflections within
A moment to gather
a lifetime in chase
the wind bearing transit
—alone in the race

Green poodle haired dogs, female of course
Outrunning the track stars, outrunning a horse
Having their hair dyed the next day in every green color
Showing off a unique variety of glitziness one way or another

Mourning Commute
would be phoenixes
masquerade in Gotham
snowbirds alighting
outrunning the cock's crow
leaving their respective nests
cold
huddled in subterranean tunnels
awaiting the next iron worm
three piece sardines
breaststroking up steam
in relentless pursuit of false promises

Where fire’s rage
no flame unfanned
The cinch retightened
no also ran
As horns go silent
the gate is dropped
On victory’s path
his legend cropped
Unbridled passion
distraction flees
A trophy hails
as reins go free
The end in sight
where roses wait
Ablaze in glory
— outrunning fate

Travelled from mouth to mouth
North,west,east & south
Far feom the censor's pen-
In memory now,long gone
This poetry of anon
Tribute to the many anon poets who use this form(often with song) 'merely written for the
people' becoming worksongs/chanties etc outrunning the state censor & fanning freedom's
flame in al men's hearts.

Grizzly bear is outrunning the eagle
They have spotted the same catfish jump
The splish splash of the water was enormous
It will be a tasty morsel for the bear
She cannot fly off with it anyway, the bear thinks.
This catfish weighs more than she does.
Empathetic, the catfish feels terror like never before
She burrows into a cool bank, barely breathing.

In my dreams I am outrunning horses
They strive to catch up, whinnying and neighing
I laugh; my hair is streaming so hard in their faces.
I am now the wind, catching them up in an exuberant way
I fling them onto a mountain top with other horses, free and wild.
They nod their approval, knowing I will send a helicopter full of oats and hay.
Even though I fear horses, I wish them well.
Even in my dreams.

Hypnotized by the clicks
And soothed into sleep
I wish this dream would end
This nightmare has begun my hate
And leaves no room for sanity
Lurking always out of sight
Running from demons that aren't even mine
Screaming for someone to hear me
Waking eventually only to find
My monsters are actually real
Living outside my mind
In sunlight
Shadows chasing
Faster faster
Never outrunning this fear
Captured and tortured
And eventually devoured

You're a horse with an idiot paint job,
all zig-zaggy blacketty-white
you stand out when you're in a snowdrift
and can't even hide in the night.
Outrunning a Cheetah you canna
not graceful like any Gazelle
for living out on the Savanna
your life must be probably hell.
I once tried your flesh on Safari
at a camp where we had barbecue
so to add insult to injury
ugly Warthog tastes better than you.
