The Shade
The shade

Amiable shade
Gently but surely recedes
To dutiful death

Accomplices
Accomplices

Fiercely and rudely
Destroyed by water and wind
True accomplices

Target
Target
The scream of silence
Piercing through the noisiness
Guilt is the target

The Diva
The diva
In her disillusioned state
With her idiotic gait
She was venomous to all
Oozing arrogance, spitting gall.

The Threat
she sees a man, she calls the cops
his color is a threat
she sees a filthy scrawny dog
she takes him home
to share her bed.

The Pit
When she comes, the greedy sea
Eating, biting, with a smile
Pretty careless and for free
Chunks and pieces for a mile
And the beach there helpless lies
While it crumbles bit by bit
As each precious portion dies
And falls in to the watery pit

The Throne
Bloated, puffed up, without fear
His domination should be clear
He’s the boss within his crew
Who’ll approve of what he’ll do
And a victim he now needs
To suffer from his cowardly deeds
All his boys around his throne
Which crumbles down once he’s alone.

Bandits
Emotional bandits
Waiting, looking, hunting for
A drip of emotion
To abuse, to make fun of
To disrespect
Like leaches they are
Ready to suck until there is no more
Emotional bandits
Preying on emotions
They themselves showing none
Inhumane as they are
I refuse to be like them
So, I’ll hide my emotions from them
While I nurture the human in me.

Chance
As the world is now in hiding
Tucked away in hopeless fear
Staring from behind their windows
Holding on to what is dear
Outside there’s a monster roaring
Causing many their demise
Having not a drop of mercy
For the righteous or the wise
Silence in the streets and places
What a test to the human stance!
It has the beasts of nature stirring
And they jump right at their chance.

Sometimes
Sometimes

He said he doesn’t even smoke
He swears he doesn’t mess with coke
He knows he is a decent bloke
He even claims that he is ’woke’
He says he’s smart and never broke
But still one day he got a stroke
It shook him up, it was no joke
His voice would tremble as he spoke
Then life gave him a playful poke
Sometimes these fears it tends to stoke
Whether or not you took a toke.

You and I
All the hardness must be softened
And the dryness moisturized
Love must sprout in great abundance
I’ll keep the soil well fertilized
All the weeds that choke and stifle
Will be pulled out one by one
And my tool will be forgiveness
I won’t stop until there’s none
So the seedlings will start growing
And their fruits will multiply
May their harvest mend the story
That was once called you and I.

Reality
Reality is a monster
A scary, fearful beast
A disagreeable villain
A brute, to say the least
The rudeness, the audacity
The arrogance, the gall
To ruin dreams and wishes too
The meanness of it all
Why not allow a desperate soul
To wallow in pretense?
To see through glasses that are pink
Why would you take offense?
Reality, you are dismissed
Be on your way now. Go!
So we can all be entertained
By this fallacious show.

Vulnerable
Vulnerable
She danced with abandon
When the rage in her needed to rage
Never did she allow her timidity to intervene
’cause she needed this time to come alive
For her inner death was stifling her, suffocating her
She danced, escaped, to where she felt free
Delivered, but still so vulnerable
And it was her vulnerability that brought her back eventually
To where she would feel the need
And the longing to lose herself again
In dance.

Brave
When you see God, your Maker
Be sure that he sees you
You’ll know what really matters
You’ll know just what is true
This world with its opinions
Its teachings that confuse
And taint all inspiration
If God is not your muse
Creation becomes creature
Deciding its own lot
Ignoring their Creator
His guidance they want not
And so they dabble and they dare
They go for what they crave
The messy mess gets messier
Lord help us all be brave.

Hunches
My thoughts are mine, I cherish them
Unruly as they are
They freely keep me company
I keep my mind ajar
Too much are these sensations
These hunches, these ideas
Much wilder than the tempests
That heave the mighty seas
My thoughts come in like thunder
They blast in with quick pace
My mind is forced to take it in
And gives up all her space
And there she is, poor mind of mine
The torture is severe
But this time too she will endure
Until the air is clear.

Nothing Less
My seducer comes for me
With enticing swirls
And tickles, strokes, and pulls at me
Around my leaves it twirls
A palm tree I am
With arms afloat
I relish in its surge
I don’t resist, I welcome it
This rich and ample splurge
This gust of life, this sudden gale
Will take its toll, I know
But still the pleasure and the feel
I dare not to forgo
When life’s intoxicating phase
Numbs anguish and distress
Then leave me be, and let it do
Much harm and nothing less.

No Amends
He likes them not, he thinks they’re rough
And dirty all the time
I do not care, I value them
To me they are sublime
Worn out from toil and drudgery
A story they can tell
Of being humble, being meek
The feelings they can quell
I’d never dare to disrespect
These blessed parts of his
I would not trade them for the world
Something would be amiss
They tell of strength, of honesty
They need not make amends
They are just great the way they are
His loving, caring hands.
