Working Out
Working Out

Decades ago
presidential elections were
every four years

Rest between sets
quiet days ward off
carabolic states

Now, the madness starts
on the first
Wednesday of November

Taper before the race
hydrate and carbo load
stretch and relax

Newscasters make predictions
hours after inauguration
“who is the fittest?”...

Audio Engineer
G-reat beacon has come,
R-ays begin to ascend;
A-fter the twilight is gone,
C-old chill starts to
E-nd.

T-hursday thrills your heart,
U-sing early March second;
P-ouring rain disappears,
P-leasant morn meets the beacon.
A-llow the TV station to broadcast the programs that offer cheer;
L-et the newscasters and anchors consult the audio engineer....

On Screen
Two newscasters were shot on screen
By some crazed gunman, first unseen;
And all who saw it were in shock,
An image they can never block.

Their loved ones taking one last breath,
All future plans cut short by death....

holding smears and dust at bay,
while camouflaging rut and decay.

The newscasters predict heavy snow.
Temperatures dip to zero and below,
inviting the flu and common cold
into putting holiday cheers on hold.

Sizzling hot fireworks light up the sky.
People seek cover to stay warm and dry,
tucking past year’s missed goals away,
to recycle them on New Year's Day....

Anchors Without Rancour
Anchors without rancour are rare today.
They don’t just report rumors, they dissect some.
Men like Brinkley and Huntley, anchors aweigh,
anchors without rancour.

They steer clear of party-lines with no humdrum.
No newshawk floored CBS such a long stay
as Walter Cronkite whose candor ranks as plumb.

War correspondents, like Murrow kept at bay
and cleared away critics like so much pond scum.
Mark Levin at FOX deals much in the same way -
anchors without rancour....
